Job description
Trade Accountant (Commodities)
The Group is involved in the sourcing of physical
commodities, logistics and transportation services, processing and refining solutions, as well as the sale to ultimate
consumers and fabricators. In addition to merchant and trading services, The Group also engages in specialized
merchant banking services with global partners across the commodity stream, providing structured trade finance
and growing a diverse portfolio of projects. This includes developing and managing strategic investments in
counterparties such as producers, refineries, smelters, storage and logistics entities, industrial consumers, and
fabricators.
Responsibilities:
• Monthly reconciliation of Risk/Trading system profit and loss to general ledger
• Performs analysis to ensure accuracy of gross margin
• Prepares and books journal entries impacting the gross margin; identifies and reconciles discrepancies that
impact the gross margin
• Prepares and allocates cost of cash usage by dept/portfolio
• Analyzes, ensures accuracy, and prepares reconciliation of trade accruals, inventory and other accounts
• Understands and reports profit and loss and mark to market attributes and movements
• Evaluate specific business transactions for proper accounting treatment
• Validates market valuation
• Monitors and ensures compliance of control policies and procedures
• Assists in the management of the preparation of the Consolidated Financial statements and reporting to
external and internal parties under IFRS
• Assists in the preparation of the annual and quarterly reporting on global basis
• Assists in the annual external audit
• Fields and responds to inquiries from management, traders, and external auditors
• Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
• B.S. / B.A. with 4-6 year's experience
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
• Commodity accounting a plus
• Ability to use modern, multi-currency accounting software package
• On-site 5 days a week
