Main Duties and Responsibilities: The Production Assistant (Summer Part-Time) will support Bender Inc.'s production operations through hands-on tasks in assembly, inventory, and shipping/receiving. This individual will be expected to follow all safety protocols, assist with maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and contribute to the overall efficiency of the production floor. This role is a short-term, entry-level position that gives an individual experience in a manufacturing environment.
Safety:
- Follow all Bender Inc.'s Safety Policies and Procedures, as well as customer-specific safety requirements where applicable.
- Immediately report any safety hazards, violations or incidents to the appropriate personnel.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards related to loss prevention, OSHA guidelines, and incident reporting.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment in the shop area.
- Support team efforts to improve safety awareness and implement safety-related action items promptly.
Production and Inventory Support:
- Assemble component kits (LIMS, hardware kits, Chicago Ground Bus), bag and seal them as required.
- Assist the Inventory Manager with inventory cycle counts in the finished goods room.
- Replenish hardware bins at production workstations to ensure the availability of components.
- Organize and label hardware bins accurately to ensure proper inventory placement.
- Assist in maintaining accurate documentation and proper material handling procedures.
- Assist in plant asset movements, to include racking, tables, misc. items.
Shipping and Receiving Assistance:
- Assist the Shipping and Receiving Coordinator by unpacking inbound materials.
- Perform visual inspections on back boxes and other components.
- Help to organize received items for further processing or storage.
Other Duties
- Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.
Requirements
- High School Education or currently enrolled in high school
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skill
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16"
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Physical Demands
- Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Use of hands and arms for packaging and handling materials.
Work Schedule
- Part-time, Monday-Friday, summer months
- Shift hours to be determined based on production needs and availability
Work Environment
- Work performed primarily in a warehouse/production environment.
- May be exposed to varying temperatures, noise levels, and industrial equipment.
- Appropriate PPE must be worn at all times (provided by the company).
