Structural Engineer

BB&E team members provide Environmental Consulting, Facilities Engineering, and Program/Project Management Services to the Federal and private sectors.

Position Summary

BB&E is seeking a Structural Engineer to provide technical design support for NAVFAC Southeast in Jacksonville, Florida. The Structural Engineer will be responsible for the design, analysis, and review of new construction, repair, and renovation projects for Navy and Marine Corps facilities. This role supports mission-critical infrastructure efforts and requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, code-compliant designs that meet NAVFAC and DoD standards.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized structural engineering support for planning, design, and construction of Navy and Marine Corps facilities.
  • Prepare and review structural calculations, design analyses, specifications, and construction drawings for concrete, steel, masonry, and timber structures.
  • Support development of project scopes, design documentation, and cost estimates for military construction (MILCON), facility repair, and renovation projects.
  • Conduct field investigations, site assessments, and structural condition evaluations to identify required repairs or modifications.
  • Review design-build packages, contractor submittals, and shop drawings for technical accuracy and compliance with NAVFAC and UFC criteria.
  • Ensure coordination of structural design with architectural, civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.
  • Apply current Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), DoD, and ASCE standards to design deliverables.
  • Participate in design reviews, constructability assessments, and value engineering studies.
  • Provide technical support during construction, including RFI responses, design clarifications, and on-site problem resolution.
  • Prepare reports, design summaries, and technical recommendations for project managers.
