Job description

Job's mission

Our Epitaxy (EPI) teams are seeking innovative and motivated recent graduates to join their teams as Mechanical Engineers. As a Mechanical Engineer on the EPI team, you will contribute to new product development as well as sustainment and engineering design projects. We are looking for someone who enjoys solving challenging problems, is thorough and detailoriented, and can use experimentation and modelbased analysis to identify root causes. Should be able to collaborate effectively with crossdisciplinary teams to solve complex engineering problems and drive new technological advancements.

Note: This role is intended for candidates who are graduating in Spring 2026 or have graduated within the past two years and have 0-2 years of professional work experience.

What you will be working on

  • Apply solid engineering principles, product specifications, and research data to design systems and products for the semiconductor industry.
  • Perform engineering calculations, including structural, thermal, and fluiddynamics analyses.
  • Create and update CAD models and detailed drawings in Creo Parametric, from simple parts to large assemblies.
  • Determine design feasibility, troubleshoot technical issues, and develop solutions that meet safety and "firsttimeright" design requirements using statistical methods.
  • Prepare clear, complete engineering documentation to support prototype builds, manufacturing, and testing.
  • Conduct project management activities such as schedule creation, reporting, design reviews, and crossfunctional coordination.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with common fabrication methods (CNC machining, sheet metal, welding, coatings).
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams from design and sourcing, introduce new products and ensure smooth transition to manufacturing.
  • Execute failure analysis (FA), including planning, realtime updates, and timely correctiveaction closure.
  • Travel to customer sites/supplier sites to participate in technical discussions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Creo, and AutoCAD.
  • Strong understanding of ANSI Y14.5 GD&T standards.

What we are looking for

  • We are looking for candidates who have graduated within the last 0-2 years or will graduate in Spring or Fall 2026 and are eager to begin or advance their career.
  • Masters in mechanical engineering or related degree, PhD strongly preferred.
  • Cleanroom experience of deposition technologies (CVD, ALD, EPI, PVD), hand-on assembly and testing experiences are strongly preferred
  • Experience in course work and projects related to design and development of complex mechanical systems including reactors, vacuum chambers, gas delivery systems, pneumatics, water cooling circuits, and vacuum systems required.
  • Understanding of materials: metals, plastics, surface coatings and surface finishes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to present design concepts to peers and management in a professional and effective manner.
  • Able to work with a diverse team to achieve requirements and specifications on complex projects.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with aggressive deadlines and multiple priorities while maintaining a team player attitude.

Frequently asked questions

Q: What skills or qualities help someone succeed as a Senior Mechanical Engineer?

A: To succeed as a Senior Mechanical Engineer, key technical skills include proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, finite element analysis (FEA), and programming languages such as Python or C++. Additionally, a strong understanding of mechanical systems, materials science, and thermodynamics is essential.\n\nSoft skills that contribute to success in this role include effective communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities, as well as the capacity to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills are also crucial for making informed design decisions and resolving complex engineering challenges.\n\nThese technical and soft skills enable Senior Mechanical Engineers to effectively lead projects, drive innovation, and make strategic decisions that drive business growth and success, ultimately supporting their career advancement and professional development.

Q: What is the career path for a Senior Mechanical Engineer?

A: A Senior Mechanical Engineer typically follows a career progression from entry-level roles such as Mechanical Engineer or Design Engineer, to mid-level positions like Senior Design Engineer or Project Engineer, and eventually to senior roles like Senior Mechanical Engineer or Engineering Manager. Key opportunities for skill development and professional growth in this role include advancing knowledge in computer-aided design (CAD), finite element analysis (FEA), and project management, as well as developing leadership and communication skills. Long-term career prospects for a Senior Mechanical Engineer may include transitioning into engineering management, product development leadership, or even entrepreneurship, or pursuing advanced degrees in engineering or business to further enhance their career opportunities.
