Job description
What you'll do:
- Assist with training and onboarding of new teammates.
- Maintain product knowledge to inform guests of daily specials, answer questions about menu items, and make recommendations upon request
- Adhere to state liquor laws and regulations; verify minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages
- Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods
- Describe and recommend wine and specialty beverages to guests
- Take food and beverage orders, enter them into the POS system, and send them to the kitchen
- Serve food and beverages to guests, preparing and garnishing dishes as required
- See to each guest’s special needs, including any allergies or dietary restrictions
- Prepare and maintain table setting for courses, including setting up items such as linens, silverware, and glassware
- Assist with running food and beverages, clearing tables, and escorting guests as needed
- Ensure immediate response is given to guest comments and concerns; inform immediate supervisor and apply corrective measures when necessary
- Manage order times and inform guests and management of any delays in service
- Maintain revenue by preparing checks that itemize total costs + sales taxes and collect accurate payments from guests
- Remove dishes and glassware from tables or counters, and take them to the kitchen for cleaning
- Clean tables or counters after guests have finished dining as needed
- Stock service areas with dining supplies such as plates, utensils, glassware, and linens
Who you are:
- You have state-issued food handling + beverage certifications as required.
- You have 6+ months of related experience in the hospitality industry.
- You can speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace.
- You are able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- You can speak effectively after guests and groups of co-workers.
- You can navigate and operate computer and Point of Sale (POS) systems.
- You can apply concepts of math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
