Job description

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ascendigo Coaches are our version of camp counselors, but with a focus on supporting and advocating for our participants on the autism spectrum. Weekend Coaches work on Saturdays and/or Sundays throughout the Summer Camp season. Coaches are paired 1:1 with an adult camper while participating in community-based weekend activities. Coaches are responsible for overseeing and assisting with camper hygiene, meals, medication administration, driving to activity locations, and overall support. A basic knowledge of autism and behavior management as well as attendance to pre-season training week is required. Shift duration is 6 AM - 10 PM and includes meals and activity fees.
TASKS
  • Work directly with campers who have challenging behaviors which may include physical aggression towards others.
  • Assist campers with hygiene such as toileting, bathing, and other daily living skills.
  • Oversee camper well-being and safety in an outdoor camp setting.
  • Communicate with caregivers and staff effectively.
  • Work in an outdoor environment requires situational awareness and quick thinking.
  • Work with Camp Nurse to administer and document daily camper medication
  • Attend pre-season camp training week

IN ADDITION
  • Must be 18 or over and have legal working status
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and excellent driving record
  • Must have a clean background check with no felonies or flags
  • Must provide a current CPR/First Aid certification.
  • High school diploma required
  • Applicants are required to have and use their own phone for work duties
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office, email, social media)
  • Must be able to lift and move heavy objects (up to 25 pounds)
