Job description

Cooper Machinery Services has powered the world's energy infrastructure since 1833 - and today, we're growing by acquisition. We're looking for a dealmaker to lead that charge from the front.
As Vice President of Corporate Development, you won't just build financial models - you'll own the deal, start to finish. You'll source targets, build the strategic and financial case, negotiate terms, and carry deals across the finish line, reporting directly to the CEO and working side-by-side with Cooper's executive team and PE sponsor, Arcline.
This is a high-visibility, high-autonomy seat at the table where Cooper's growth strategy gets made. If you'd rather build the pipeline than wait for deals to land in your inbox, we want to talk to you.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Build and manage a pipeline of acquisition targets aligned to Cooper's growth strategy.
  • Lead deal evaluation: financial modeling, valuation, synergy analysis, and investment recommendations for executive and board/sponsor review.
  • Monitor diligence workstreams, coordinating and collaborating with internal teams (Finance, IT, HR, Legal, Operations).
  • Structure and negotiate deal terms in partnership with executive leaders, Legal, and Finance.
  • Manage relationships with investment banks, brokers, and other deal sources.
  • Partner with Arcline and Cooper leadership on strategic portfolio planning and capital allocation for M&A.
  • Support post-close integration planning, working with corporate and operations teams to ensure success.
  • Maintain market intelligence on the target landscape, competitors, and potential acquisition targets.

WHO YOU ARE
  • 8+ years in corporate development, investment banking, private equity, or transaction advisory, with a track record of closed deals.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required; years of experience may be considered in lieu of an MBA.
  • Strong financial modeling and valuation skills (DCF, comps, LBO, accretion/dilution).
  • Experience managing full diligence processes and cross-functional deal teams.
  • Comfortable working directly with PE sponsors and executive leadership, exercising independent judgment on which opportunities merit their attention.
  • A self-starter who builds pipeline proactively rather than waiting for deals to come in.
  • Sound judgment under ambiguity - able to make a clear recommendation even when information is incomplete.
  • A direct, collaborative communicator who can distill complex deal dynamics for executive and sponsor audiences.
  • Willing to travel for target visits and diligence as needed.

PREFERRED
  • MBA Degree
  • Industrial, energy, or manufacturing sector experience.

WHY JOIN US
  • Most benefits are effective on your first day of employment - no waiting period.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Company-paid life, AD&D, short-term, and long-term disability coverage (6-month short-term disability waiting period).
  • Voluntary life, AD&D, and long-term disability buy-up plan.
  • Voluntary benefit plans including accident, critical illness, and hospital indemnity insurance.
  • 401(k) with up to 5% company match - employees are 100% vested on Day 1.
  • Maternity and parental leave, Arc Fertility Benefits, and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for mental health support.
