Role Summary
The Corporate Development area goals are to source capital efficiently and support the effective management of capital. Reporting to the VP, Corporate Development, the incumbent is responsible for supporting the identification, evaluation, selection, and execution of reinsurance/M&A opportunities and actions. The incumbent is expected to have or to develop knowledge of NLG's current and past life and annuity products. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to build strong relationships across the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Deal Sourcing and Evaluation: Assist the VP, Corporate Development and the Head of Capital Management in building and maintaining a pipeline of strategic partnerships and reinsurance opportunities through proactive efforts and inbound interest.
  • Transaction Execution: Manage portions of the reinsurance/M&A lifecycle, which could include projects in sourcing and due diligence to valuation, negotiation, and final integration.
  • Financial and Market Analysis: Assist in the development of sophisticated financial models and perform market analyses to support and validate business cases.
  • Cross-Functional Interaction: Assist in coordinating teams from finance, legal, operations, and other departments throughout the deal process.
  • Stakeholder Management: Provide support to the VP, Corporate Development as she/he serves as a key liaison in building relationships with external partners, investment bankers, advisors, and investors.
  • Reporting and Presentation: Assist in the preparation and presentation of detailed business cases, investment memos, and board-level reports to senior leadership.
  • Strategic Planning: Provide support in identifying industry trends and competitive landscapes to support long-term strategy.

Qualifications And Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field is required. Preferred designations are FSA or FIA.
  • Experience: 10+ years of relevant experience in the insurance industry, with 5+ years of relevant experience in corporate development, reinsurance, investment banking, private equity, consulting, or a related transactional role within the insurance industry.
  • Insurance Knowledge: Significant knowledge of life insurance, annuities, retirement products, or other relevant insurance lines.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial modeling, valuation, and due diligence are essential. Actuarial experience is a plus. Working knowledge of insurance company's U.S. Statutory, U.S. GAAP, U.S. Tax, Bermuda/E.B.S., and other solvency financial statements.
  • Leadership: Strong potential and desire to lead and develop teams.
  • Communication: Track record of successfully building relationships with both technical and non-technical audiences and communicating complex information clearly to senior executives. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Project Management: Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage several projects. Exhibits dedication to completing tasks thoroughly and on time, including under time pressure and outside normal working hours. Ability to view "big picture", understand broad corporate impacts, and focus on company objectives.

Base Pay Range. The base pay range for this position is the range National Life reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors, including: prior experience and job-related knowledge; education, training and certificates; current business needs; and market factors. The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances.
Additional Compensation and Benefits. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in National Life's discretionary annual incentive programs, subject to the rules governing such programs. If hired, the employee will be in an "at-will position" and National Life reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

$196,875-$288,750 USD
