Job description

Description
Vice President, Loan Admin Oversight & Partnerships
Team: Loan Operations • Operational Strategy & Delivery
Location: Boston, MA or New York, NY
About the Role
Liberty Mutual Investments (LMI) is seeking a detail-oriented and relationship-driven operations professional to join our growing Loan Operations team as Vice President, Loan Admin Oversight & Partnerships. This is a senior, high-impact role and a key addition to a newly formed function being purpose-built to support the continued growth and build-out of a best-in-class loan operations platform.
This VP will serve as the primary owner of LMI's loan administration relationships and the operational integrity of the loan book of record. The role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day loan administration performance, managing vendor and collaborator partnerships, and ensuring cross-system alignment across LMI's multi-platform loan operations environment.
This role reports to the Head of Loan Operations and owns the run and oversight layer of the loan operations operating model within the enterprise framework that role sets.
The ideal candidate brings deep loan administration and vendor management expertise, strong familiarity with loan systems and data, and the ability to drive accountability across both internal and external partners. #LMI #LI-LMI
Key Responsibilities
Loan Book of Record & System Integrity
  • Own the operational data integrity of LMI's loan book of record on a day-to-day basis - ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of positions, cash flows, and valuations across the loan administration platform
  • Ensure tight alignment across LMI's multi-system loan operations environment across positions, cash flows, and valuations
  • Run and monitor daily processing; review and approve critical updates and own the resolution of data quality issues before they impact downstream systems or reporting
  • Consume reconciliation break data to identify systemic root causes and drive durable operational improvements

Loan Administrator Oversight
  • Serve as the primary liaison and relationship owner for LMI's loan administration partners; day-to-day performance management of the loan administrator - encompassing service level monitoring, processing accuracy, issue escalation, weekly operational reviews, monthly KPI tracking, and quarterly strategic reviews
  • Manage the relationship with the loan servicer on internal securitization structures, ensuring operational alignment with LMI's investment and reporting requirements
  • Track administrator capacity and performance against projected portfolio growth; proactively surface risks and propose solutions to ensure scalability

External Collaborator Management
  • Manage LMI's external operational collaborators (e.g., eClerx, EXL) supporting loan operations workflows - providing oversight of their work, ensuring procedure documentation is current and accurate, and determining where they are best positioned to add value
  • Educate and train collaborators on LMI's operational standards, workflows, and system requirements; ensure consistent execution and quality across all collaborator-supported activities
  • Establish clear standards and expectations for collaborator output; monitor quality and consistency of work product against LMI's operational framework, ensuring issues are identified and addressed promptly
  • Identify opportunities to optimize how collaborator capacity is deployed as the portfolio and team evolve

Platform Strategy & Vendor Management
  • Support the management of vendor relationships across the loan operations technology and services ecosystem, contributing operational expertise and day-to-day performance insights to inform vendor governance and oversight
  • Lead or contribute to the evaluation and selection of loan administration platform enhancements or alternatives, representing Loan Operations' requirements in vendor assessments and platform discussions
  • Partner with Technology and Data teams to drive improvements to data flows, system integrations, and automation across the loan administration environment

Agent Bank Coordination
  • Manage operational relationships with agent banks across LMI's loan portfolio; oversee and coordinate the processing of complex loan activity - including distressed exchanges, restructurings, and amendments - ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and appropriate escalation
  • Establish and maintain governance frameworks for agency functions including oversight standards, KYC requirements, SLA accountability, and escalation paths

Operational Risk, Control & Continuous Improvement
  • Build and maintain the loan administration layer of the enterprise operational risk and control framework owned by the Head of Loan Operations; ensure processes align with internal policies, audit standards, and industry best practices
  • Identify and drive automation and process improvement opportunities to increase efficiency, reduce manual touchpoints, and support scale
  • Collaborate with Investor, Finance, Treasury, Portfolio Operations, Product, Technology, and Data teams to ensure alignment across the loan operations and investment lifecycle

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or a related field
  • Advanced degrees (e.g., MBA) are a plus
  • CPA or CFA preferred but not required
  • 10+ years of experience in loan operations, loan administration, or a related middle or back-office function within an asset manager, bank, or financial institution
  • Deep knowledge of loan administration operations across private credit and broadly syndicated loan portfolios, including strong familiarity with loan lifecycle events, cash flow management, and reconciliation processes
  • Significant experience with loan administration platforms and systems; strong working knowledge of book of record management and cross-system data flows
  • Prior experience with corporate actions, amendments, restructures, workouts, and distressed exchanges, including familiarity with the operational requirements and documentation standards associated with each
  • Proven track record of managing loan administration relationships, including SLA governance, performance management, and issue escalation
  • Experience with agent bank operations and familiarity with loan agency services
  • Demonstrated expertise in operational risk controls, audit readiness, and process documentation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of driving process improvements and automation in a loan operations environment
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to represent LMI professionally with external partners and communicate clearly with senior leadership
  • Able to operate at both the strategic and tactical levels with hands-on operational ownership
  • Familiarity with AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini, with the ability to apply them practically in a loan operations context - whether to accelerate process documentation, synthesize complex information, draft communications, or identify patterns across large datasets
