What are some common challenges faced by Visionquest counselors in supporting at-risk youth, and how can applicants prepare for them?

Visionquest counselors often work with at-risk youth who may exhibit behavioral or emotional challenges, requiring patience, resilience, and strong communication skills. Common challenges include building trust with youth who have experienced trauma, managing group dynamics, and responding to crises effectively. Applicants can prepare by gaining experience in youth mentoring, learning de-escalation techniques, and becoming familiar with trauma-informed care. Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and ongoing training are key components of success in this role.

What is a Visionquest and what do they do?

A Visionquest is a traditional rite of passage practiced by some Indigenous cultures, particularly among Native American peoples. It typically involves a period of fasting, isolation, and meditation in nature, intended to provide spiritual guidance, self-discovery, or direction in one's life. While 'Visionquest' is not a formal job title, some modern organizations or facilitators offer Visionquest experiences as a form of spiritual retreat, guiding participants through the process. These facilitators are responsible for ensuring safety, providing preparation and support, and helping participants integrate their experiences afterward.

Understanding these differences can help you choose the right career path in youth services.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Visionquest specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Visionquest specialist (such as an outdoor adventure or wilderness therapy guide), you typically need expertise in outdoor leadership, wilderness survival, and first aid, often supported by certifications like Wilderness First Responder (WFR) or similar credentials. Familiarity with navigation tools, emergency communication systems, and risk management protocols is essential. Strong communication, empathy, and crisis management skills help you support participants through challenging experiences. These skills ensure participant safety, facilitate personal growth, and foster a transformative and supportive environment.

Employees in these roles work with at-risk youth in residential programs, foster care, or juvenile justice settings, focusing on rehabilitation and life skills development. Positions may include case managers, youth care workers, therapists, or program coordinators. These jobs require strong communication, problem-solving, and mentoring skills to support young individuals in making positive life changes.

Job description

Job Summary

VQ OrthoCare is expanding its VA-focused sales presence nationwide.

We are looking for experienced medical sales representatives, independent contractors, and W2 sales professionals who already have relationships inside the VA healthcare system. The primary mission is simple: help veterans gain access to clinically meaningful orthopedic, rehabilitation, and pain-management technologies that can support conservative care, improve function, and reduce pain where clinically appropriate.

This is not a cold-start sales role. We are specifically looking for representatives with existing VA facility access and established contacts in one or more of the following areas:

  • Physical Therapy
  • Pain Management
  • Orthopedics
  • Rheumatology
  • Prosthetics / Orthotics
  • Rehabilitation Medicine
  • Sports Medicine / Musculoskeletal Care
  • VA purchasing or clinical product evaluation channels
About the Opportunity

VQ OrthoCare manufactures and distributes unique orthopedic, rehabilitation, and pain-management technologies that are not widely available through traditional medical device channels. These products can be meaningful, and in some cases life-changing, for veterans struggling with pain, mobility limitations, osteoarthritis, and functional impairment.

Our focus is direct: expand access to clinically relevant technologies that help VA clinicians serve veterans with conservative, non-surgical treatment options.

Our product portfolio includes:

  • BioniCare knee system
  • BioniCare hand system
  • Avid Interferential / NMES technology
  • Osteoarthritis bracing
  • Functional orthopedic bracing
  • Related rehabilitation and pain-management products

We are already active in numerous VA facilities with a strong contractual presence and are moving quickly to expand our national footprint in the VA space. The opportunity is strongest for representatives who can immediately open doors, introduce clinically appropriate technology, support product evaluation, and help VA clinicians serve veterans more effectively.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate has:

  • Existing relationships within VA medical centers or VA outpatient clinics
  • Direct access to clinicians in PT, pain management, orthopedics, rheumatology, prosthetics, or rehabilitation
  • Experience selling medical devices, orthopedic products, rehabilitation products, bracing, DME, biologics, pain-management products, or related technologies
  • Ability to educate clinicians on differentiated products
  • Understanding of VA sales cycles, product evaluation, purchasing pathways, and clinical adoption
  • Professional credibility with VA clinicians and staff
  • A service-first mindset toward veterans and the VA healthcare mission

This role is not limited to one geography. We are interested in representatives with VA access anywhere in the United States.

Why This Role Matters

Veterans deserve access to technologies that may help them stay active, manage pain, improve function, and avoid unnecessary escalation of care where conservative treatment is clinically appropriate.

Our goal is to build a national VA-focused representative network that combines strong clinical access, compliant sales execution, and a genuine commitment to serving veterans.

Compensation

This is a high-income opportunity for the right representative. Compensation structure will depend on role, territory, experience, and current VA access.

We are open to:

  • Independent contractor representation
  • W2 sales representative roles
  • Territory-based arrangements
  • Product-line focused representation
  • VA facility-specific expansion opportunities
Who Should Apply

You should apply if you already have VA relationships and can credibly introduce medical technologies to clinicians involved in musculoskeletal care, pain management, rehabilitation, orthopedic bracing, or conservative treatment pathways.

This may be a strong fit for:

  • Current or former VA-focused medical sales representatives
  • Independent medical device representatives
  • Orthopedic, DME, rehabilitation, or pain-management sales representatives
  • Representatives already calling on VA hospitals
  • Former VA clinicians or VA-connected professionals with appropriate sales experience
  • Representatives with established access to PT, pain management, orthopedics, rheumatology, prosthetics, or rehabilitation departments
How to Apply

If you have established VA access and want to represent differentiated technologies that support veteran care, we would like to speak with you.

Please submit your resume and include a brief summary of:

  • VA facilities where you have current or prior relationships
  • Clinical departments you can access
  • Product categories you have represented
  • Whether you are interested in an independent contractor or W2 role
  • Your preferred geography or territory
