KIPP Baltimore was founded in 2002 with the opening of KIPP Ujima Village Academy middle school. In 2009, KIPP Harmony Academy was launched, and they now collectively serve more than 1,500 kindergarten through eighth grade students each day. Both schools are operated by KIPP Baltimore, whose mission is together with families and communities, to create joyful, academically excellent schools that prepare students with the skills and confidence to pursue the paths they choose -college, career, and beyond-so they can lead fulfilling lives and build a more just world.
In addition to the high-quality academic opportunities that students receive while attending KIPP Harmony Academy and KIPP Ujima Village Academy, KIPP Baltimore also makes a long-term investment in our students both while they are at KIPP schools and beyond through the KIPP Through College program. Job Description
ROLE OVERVIEW:
The receptionist is the first contact with parents and visitors in the building. The Receptionist is responsible for all aspects of the reception area, including appearance, organization, and operations. He or she will manage the phone system and provide administrative support as needed. The Receptionist greets visitors, answers and routes incoming calls, and performs general administrative duties. The Receptionist will also assist with administrative overflow by doing data entry, word processing, and providing support to the Director of Campus Operations as needed. The receptionist reports into the Director of Campus Operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receptionist responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Will serve as first contact for incoming telephone calls and in-person inquiries
  • Establish and develop relationships with students, parents, and staff members to create a welcoming and friendly environment
  • Provide good first impression by representing KIPP Baltimore in a professional , friendly manner
  • Answer phones and maintain visitor control; greet and sign-in visitors
  • Receive and sort mail and arrange package drop off and pick-up
  • Provide prompt and dependable support to the Director of Campus Operations and the Operations team
  • Performs routine clerical tasks and will not be limited to the aforementioned responsibilities; other administrative duties as assigned
  • Serve as a Part-time and fully engaged member of KIPP Baltimore's staff.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS:
  • A passion for the mission of KIPP Baltimore.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 6 months of office, school operations, and/or Receptionist experience
  • Excellent communication and telephone skills and demeanor
  • Strong organizational skills: planning ahead, meeting deadlines, and multi-tasking
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability of work products.
  • A healthy measure of the character traits we value: zest, grit, hope, love, social intelligence, gratitude and a sense of humor.
  • Proficient in Google Suite (Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Calendar, etc...)
