Position Summary:
The 2026 midterms will shape the future of our communities, our states, and our country. To win, campaigns need dedicated, trained, and passionate organizers on the ground. The When We Count Organizer Bootcamp is a two day training program designed specifically for graduating college seniors and aspiring young professionals (18-29) who want to jumpstart a career in political organizing and are seeking full-time employment between now and November 2026.
This two-day bootcamp will equip you with the hard skills, knowledge, and campaign network you need to get hired on a Democratic campaign in 2026. Upon completion of the bootcamp, the DNC will directly share your resume with battleground campaigns staffing up for critical roles in the midterms.
The first virtual bootcamp will take place Thursday, June 25th & Friday, June 26th from 10AM - 5PM.
The application deadline for the June bootcamp is Sunday, June 21st.
Who We Are Looking For
Passionate young Democrats curious about working on a campaign in 2026. No previous political experience is required - just a willingness to learn and a fierce commitment to electing Democrats.
Qualifications:
  • Young Democrats between the ages of 18-29
  • Must be seeking full-time, or part-time, employment between now and November 2026
  • Open to applicants in any US state. (Note: A willingness to relocate to battleground districts for employment is highly preferred, though not strictly required).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to talk to people from all walks of life.
  • Campaign work requires you to be adaptable, self-motivated, and ready for a fast-paced environment.

What You Will Learn:
  • Campaign structure and timelines - what does each department do on a campaign, and how does that help the campaign win?
  • Campaign strategy - what tactics do campaigns use to reach, register, persuade, and mobilize diverse groups of voters?
  • Messaging strategy - how can campaigns have high quality, persuasive conversations with voters?
  • Coalitions strategy - how should campaigns adapt their organizing strategy to reach diverse groups of voters?
  • Personal Story training - how can you leverage your personal story as a persuasion tool?
  • Data & digital tools - what platforms and tools do campaigns use to track voter outreach? How can campaigns leverage social media and digital tools to amplify their message?
  • Volunteer recruitment - how can a campaign scale their impact and outreach through volunteer recruitment and training?
  • Networking - meet senior level political operatives, battleground campaign leadership, elected officials, and other aspiring political staffers from across the country.
