Job description

NextGen Federal Systems is seeking to hire a Technical Lead for Systems Engineering with experience in modeling and simulation and/or digital engineering. Next Gen Federal Systems is looking for a Chief Systems Engineer of LVC (Live, Virtual, and Constructive) Mod & Sim Environments. This role will be responsible for designing the architecture that blends physical (Live), simulated (Virtual), and computer-generated (Constructive) elements into seamless, interoperable simulation ecosystems.
Responsibilities
·         Lead Engineer to oversee and define the digital engineering service plan for LVC events, and events planning as well as identifying priorities and enablement for the Ironwood architecture and mission workflow and development to create the end product solution for the program
 
·         Technical lead overseeing a small team of multi-discipline engineers
 
·         Provide pre- and post-LVC event support and planning
 
·         Oversee 3rd party tool integration for the overall Ironwood system
 
·         Oversee LVC events planning, testing, integration, and user enablement for the environment
 
·         Provide bounded implementation support for C2 and LVC interfaces needed to connect event tools, simulation tools, operational workflows, and user-facing mission products under approved 
 
·         Participate in the full planning, execution, and after-action assessment of LVC, demonstrating a stable environment during mission events
 
·         Bridge disparate simulation systems, hardware-in-the-loop to allow real-time data exchange
 
·         Lead oversight of the integration and end to end integration checkout
 
·         Creating distributed simulations utilizing common standards, federation management, and distributed time management protocols. 
 
·         Ensuring models follow DoD/industry protocols like HLA (High Level Architecture), DIS (Distributed Interactive Simulation), and applying FOM/SOM guidelines. 
 
·         Setting the technical direction, driving digital engineering/AI capabilities, and leading development teams. 
 
·         Deploy and test containerized units within the cloud
 
·         Support processing installation hardware 
 
·         Define the bounded digital engineering service plan for tools and event- needs and alignment with architecture and workflows
 
·         Define, design, and package bounded third-party tool adapters for workflows and interfaces
 
·         Provide bounded implementation support for LVC interfaces needed to connect event tools, simulation tools, operational workflows, and user-facing mission products
Requirements
·         BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Physics, or Electrical Engineering. 
 
·         10+ years of systems engineering experience
 
·         Experience leading teams successfully in the creation and execution of LVC engineering frameworks
 
·         Typically 8+ years of specialized modeling and simulation experience. 
 
·         Develop program roadmap and manage expectations with customer
 
·         Deliver modeling simulation and analysis (MS&A) integrating Cameo/SysML, Cameo Simulation Toolkit, ModelCenter and/or Ansys STK tools and outputs 
 
·         Utilize MBSE tools such as MagicDraw/Cameo and MS&A tools to develop detailed models that integrate sub-system models across multiple domains (avionics, RF, EW, communication, aerodynamics, acoustics, EMI, human factors, etc.)
 
·         Lead development of automation capabilities and tying the Digital Thread
 
·         Work within an Agile Project Management framework and DevSecOps culture
 
·         Collaborate across stakeholders including customers, teammates and partners
 
Qualifications
·         Experience developing conceptual, logical, physical (MBSE) or analytical models (MS&A)
 
·         Ability to develop systems deliverables, to include requirements, CONOPs, APIs, IDD/ICDs, SDDs, test plans/procedures
 
·         Experience in Agile software systems development
 
·         Experience with one or more of the following programming languages: Java, Python, C++
 
·         Experience with Ansys STK, Cameo Systems Modeler, MATLAB, Simulink
 
·         Experience with Docker, Podman, and Kubernetes
 
·         Experience with Omniverse, Postman, and Visual Studio
 
·         Active Top-Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility
 
·         Ability to work closely with software engineers to evolve the systems architecture
 
·         Ability to analyze problems with a flexible and creative approach, manage complex tasks and adapt to rapidly changing requirements
 
·         Ability to learn new technologies rapidly and implement in a dynamic environment
