Property Accounting Specialist

At Flaherty & Collins Properties, great communities depend on strong financial operations behind the scenes. Our Property Accounting team helps ensure that property-level financial information is accurate, timely, and useful to the teams making decisions every day.

As a Property Accounting Specialist, you will be responsible for the administration of the petty cash card program for all the properties and Regional Property Managers. Additionally, you will be responsible for setting up vendors, scrubbing vendors, and keeping addresses up to date for remittances. Finally, you will support our property accounting team by reconciling petty cash and handling any other small projects that come in.

What You'll Do:

  • Replenish petty cash card balances on a weekly basis.

  • Process one-time funding requests for petty cash cards.

  • Respond to questions and provide training and support related to petty cash cards.

  • Prepare and upload billback and other charges into applicable systems.

  • Prepare files for ACH collections and processing.

  • Set up new vendors through the vendor request process.

  • Conduct monthly vendor reviews to identify and resolve duplicate or inaccurate records.

  • Support vendor setup and data preparation for system migration activities.

  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy.

  • Provide coverage and support for team members as needed.

  • Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

What Makes You a Great Fit:

  • 2+ years of accounting experience preferred, with real estate or property accounting experience a plus.

  • Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial statements.

  • Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet recurring monthly deadlines.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.

  • Experience with property management or accounting software is a plus.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with Property Management and Accounting teams.

  • You’re proactive, dependable, and comfortable taking ownership of your work.
