Harding, Shymanski & Co., P.S.C. (https://www.hsccpa.com), a leading public accounting and consulting firm, is seeking an experienced Client Accounting Consultant to join our Evansville office. This role requires a minimum of 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within public accounting.

This position is a full-time position, based out of our Evansville IN office location, with some expanded hours required during tax season.

Job Duties:

  • Reviewing client general ledger activity for proper recording of transactions and correcting client activity where necessary
  • Prepare bank reconciliations for client accounts
  • Posting journal entries for items such as accrued expenses, prepaid expenses, depreciation, amortization, and other entries that may be required based on the clients’ industry
  • Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules
  • Preparation of interim compiled or management use only financial statements utilizing the clients accounting software
  • Presenting financial results to management and business owners
  • Assist management in budgeting and financial forecasting as requested
  • Assist management and tax preparers with gathering financial data needed for ongoing tax planning purposes
  • Occasional preparation of the following items while onsite: payroll tax returns including year end W-2’s, sales tax returns, business entity reports required by states, etc.
  • Provide client support and assistance regarding accounting related items on an as needed basis
  • Identify areas for improvement and efficiency in the clients’ accounting processes
  • Be able to support the entire suite of QuickBooks accounting software applications and have the ability to operate in many different small business accounting software packages
  • Identify and utilize technology, when possible, to streamline processes and procedures to be more efficient and effective


Requirements:

  • 5+ years of accounting experience with a wide range of prior responsibilities in the accounting profession as described in the job duties section
  • Prior experience in both public and private accounting environments, preferably some mix of public accounting and private accounting OR all public at a smaller CPA firm
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • CPA designation preferred but not required
  • Quick books experience preferred and/or experienced in making actual accounting and bookkeeping entries
  • Self-motivated and able to able to work very independently
  • Capable and motivated to provide our clients with excellent and timely client service
  • Capable of multitasking by managing multiple projects and deadlines
  • Exhibit a professional image and effective oral/written communication skills with both clients and co-workers
  • Be motivated to work as team member and to be able to build consensus to implement new ideas and procedures that are deemed necessary
  • Be flexible and willing to work additional hours when required
  • Effective communication with client accounting personnel is a critical success factor for this role
  • Success in this role depends on the ability to coach others and elevate their capabilities.
