Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking a mid-level Systems Administrator to support day-to-day administration, maintenance, and support of the organization's on-premises Windows infrastructure and enterprise IT services. This position is located on-site in North Logan, UT and supports a variety of environments operating in isolated and air-gapped networks.
The selected candidate will work as part of a small IT team serving as a technical generalist responsible for Windows server administration, enterprise infrastructure, application support, and end-user support. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing a broad range of technologies, troubleshooting complex issues across multiple domains, and supporting reliable business operations through proactive maintenance, documentation, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary operational administrator for assigned systems and platforms, ensuring availability, performance, and security
  • Administers on-premises Microsoft environments (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Exchange, and enterprise file services)
  • Configures and maintains Windows file shares, permissions, and storage resources
  • Supports virtual infrastructure, including virtual machines, templates, and resource management
  • Administers NAS/SAN and other storage systems and backups and monitors storage health and capacity
  • Performs Windows patch management and coordinates scheduled maintenance activities
  • Monitors and Provides support for server, infrastructure, application, and user issues
  • Creates and maintains technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and system configuration records
  • Provides after-hours and on-call support as required for outages or maintenance events
  • Collaborates and at times mentors’ peers and coworkers
  • Supports security hardening, compliance, and configuration management requirements
  • Independently research, test, and implement solutions for issues that fall outside existing knowledge base or documentation
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience administering Microsoft Windows Server environments
  • Experience troubleshooting Windows infrastructure, enterprise applications, and end-user technical issues
  • Experience administering Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and enterprise file services
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Exchange in an on-premises environment
  • Experience administering VMware or equivalent virtualization platforms
  • Strong understanding of Windows security best practices, permissions, authentication, and system hardening
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and documentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail
  • Familiarity with operating in regulated environments
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating across multiple teams
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve poorly documented issues through research, testing, and structured troubleshooting
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Government security clearance
  • Valid CompTIA Security+ certification (or equivalent) is required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire
  • Must be willing to travel if required, though not a normal expectation
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active DoW Top Secret clearance
  • Experience supporting air-gapped or highly regulated enterprise environments
  • Experience supporting DoW or other federal information systems
  • Experience working within structured change management and configuration management processes
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively as a technical generalist within a small IT organization
  • Scripting or automation experience (PowerShell preferred)
  • Experience with enterprise storage platforms
  • Experience with enterprise backup and recovery solutions
*Salary Range
  • $69,000 - $128,000
    • Salary commensurate on education and relevant experience
