    Job description

    Job Summary:
    Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking an experienced Software Systems Engineer to join our C4ISR Systems Division. The selected candidate will provide subject matter expertise support to the U.S. Government team working on advanced Air Force training systems, leading complex system integration efforts and ensuring alignment with defense industry best practices.
    Responsibilities:
    โ€ข Works with multiple engineering disciplines to ensure that the system is designed, built, and fielded to meet requirements and enables flawless operations
    โ€ข Supports the U.S. Government by overseeing and providing insight into the software architecture and multi-level software designs of a complex system of systems
    โ€ข Focuses on assessment of all aspects of software design from requirements to the final system integration test plans
    โ€ข Identifies, documents, and provides technical risk mitigation strategies
    โ€ข Works side-by-side with the customer as a subject matter expert assessing designs
    โ€ข Ensures that all subsystems are designed to integrate with minimal issues
    โ€ข Enables Government ownership of the delivered technology
    โ€ข Collaborates with representatives of several other corporate entities daily
    โ€ข Participates in software requirements and designs analysis and development, threat assessments, vulnerability assessments, secure software architecture analysis, software test evaluation, and integration of applications
    โ€ข Provides expertise on the decomposition of system level non-functional requirements and constraints down to software components to ensure that designs will pass certification
    Qualifications:
    Required:
    โ€ข Bachelorโ€™s degree in a related technical field (e.g., computer science, computer engineering, software engineering)
    โ€ข 8+ years of relevant software systems engineering experience designing complex software systems of systems, including validation and verification of requirements
    โ€ข Familiarity with software system design, development, deployment, and testing in containerized environments
    โ€ข Fluency in an object-oriented software languages such as C#, C++, or Java
    โ€ข Proficiency with software interfaces utilizing tools such as Google Protocol Buffers
    โ€ข Familiarity with Day 0, Day 1, and Day 2 operations
    โ€ข Proficiency with SysML (Cameo)
    โ€ข Past experience with Requirements Management
    โ€ข Focused on software requirements
    โ€ข Requirements Development
    โ€ข Validation of requirements
    โ€ข Requirements tracing
    โ€ข Requirements Verification
    โ€ข Technical and Program Risk assessment
    โ€ข Defect burn-down and regression testing strategy development
    โ€ข Identification of test interactions and dependencies
    โ€ข Identification of integration metrics
    โ€ข Familiarity with secure software development processes
    โ€ข Demonstrated strong team and interpersonal skills
    โ€ข Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills
    โ€ข Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers
    โ€ข Must possess a working knowledge of system and software design patterns and how to apply them correctly to a given design problem
    โ€ข Must be a U.S. citizen
    โ€ข Active DoW SECRET clearance or higher
    โ€ข Must be able to travel to Government, contractor, and customer facilities ~30% (nominally four (4) trips per quarter)
    Preferred:
    โ€ข Proficiency with C++, C#, Java, and/or Rust
    โ€ข Cameo experience
    โ€ข SysML v2 experience
    โ€ข Solid understanding of API security concerns
    โ€ข Experience with defense programs
    โ€ข Experience deploying into air-gapped environments
    โ€ข Comfortable with using the Atlassian suite (Confluence, Jira, etc.)
    โ€ข Comfortable using version control tools such as Git and Bitbucket
    โ€ข Experience with Agile development
    โ€ข Familiarity with DoW DevSecOps principles
    โ€ข Experience with DoW mission operations networks
    โ€ข Familiarity complying with FedRAMP or other Government security standards
