Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on Video Encoding Engineer to join our IP Video Engineering team. This role will support our existing encoding engineer by taking ownership of key tasks related to encoding workflows, system setup, and video quality measurement. The ideal candidate is an independent contributor who can operate with minimal guidance and thrives in a fast-paced engineering environment.

This is an on-site W-2 hourly role with a 9 - 12 months engagement.

The hourly rate is $62 - $67Candidates will be paid within this range based on their work experience and skills. Candidates are also eligible for limited benefits such as 401 (k) Match, health insurance, professional development, trainings, our referral bonus program, and our wellness program.

Responsibilities:

  • Install operating systems on bare-metal servers and configure software environments.
  • Set up and maintain encoding workflows using HEVC and other advanced codecs.
  • Connect encoders to packaging systems within an IP video delivery pipeline.
  • Join and troubleshoot multicast streams in an IP video environment.
  • Run and analyze video quality tools such as VMAF and SIMMWAVE to evaluate and optimize encoding performance.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth integration of encoding components with downstream systems.
  • Provide support in day-to-day encoding tasks to reduce workload on existing engineers.
Qualifications
  • Strong Linux administration skills, including software installation, system configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with video encoding technologies (HEVC required, other codecs a plus).
  • Familiarity with IP video delivery concepts and multicast networking.
  • Experience with video quality assessment tools (VMAF, SIMMWAVE preferred).
  • Ability to connect encoders to packagers and troubleshoot workflow issues.
  • Hands-on, self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
