The Video Engineer position is responsible for the operation of video for University classes and events. This includes providing oversight of video equipment, staff operators, administration, and technical performance of all University audio event systems.

Work Location: Virginia Beach, VA

Salary: $50,000 - $55,000 annually

Essential duties:

  • Oversees video production of university events and recordings.
  • Provide timely on-call help to faculty, staff, and students in the proper use of the video equipment and systems in all spaces on campus.
  • Provide day-to-day video support for all university spaces.
  • Responsible for inventory of university video equipment.
  • Responsible for routine maintenance of all university video equipment.
  • Provide training and supervision to assigned Media Services Student Workers and Graduate Assistants.
  • Recommend the purchase of video equipment and systems.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-call help to professors having problems with their AV equipment.
  • Assist in the installation of all AV equipment across campus.

Qualifications: 

  • Three years minimum required, three to five years preferred, of hands-on experience using standard audiovisual equipment: sound, video, computers
  • Understanding of Blackmagic Video Routing System, Panasonic PTZ cameras and Controls, Pro-Presenter presentation software, Hitachi studio cameras, Blackmagic ATEM switchers, and teleprompting software

Candidates must have:

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully supervise others
  • Ability and willingness to accommodate a varied work week and availability to work an occasional evening or weekend if required
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with other people
  • Ability to use standard word processing & spreadsheet software for reports, graphics and statistics 
  • Ability to occasionally move equipment, climb ladders, and lift equipment of 50-75 lbs. required
  • Ability to plan and organize your own work with limited supervision
