Job description

Atlantic FCU is hiring a Vice President, Residential Lending in South Portland.

Description Lead Growth. Develop Talent. Shape the Future of Home Lending.

Do you excel at leading successful mortgage teams, fostering growth, and enhancing the member experience? Atlantic Federal Credit Union is looking for an accomplished Vice President of Residential Lending to provide strategic leadership and drive continued success within our residential lending division.

In this key leadership role, you’ll shape the future of our mortgage business by expanding market presence, enhancing profitability, strengthening referral partnerships, and developing a culture of accountability and performance. As the organization’s residential lending expert, you’ll influence executive decision-making while leading a team dedicated to helping members achieve homeownership goals.

What You’ll Do Drive Strategic Growth:
  • Create and execute a multi-year residential lending strategy.
  • Establish goals focused on production, revenue, profitability, and market expansion.
  • Identify emerging opportunities, competitive trends, and innovative solutions that support long-term success.
  • Lead organizational improvements that enhance efficiency, scalability, and results.
Empowering a High-Performing Team:
  • Inspire, coach, and mentor a team of residential lending professionals.
  • Set clear performance expectations and foster a results-oriented culture.
  • Develop future leaders through succession planning and ongoing professional development.
  • Own hiring, performance management, recognition, and career growth initiatives.
Accelerate Business Development:
  • Expand purchase mortgage production and strengthen referral-based growth.
  • Build strategic relationships with realtors, builders, financial professionals, employers, and community organizations.
  • Champion consultative sales practices and relationship-focused lending.
  • Represent Atlantic in the community to enhance brand visibility and lending opportunities.
Optimize Financial and Operational Performance:
  • Manage departmental budgets, forecasts, and profitability objectives.
  • Partner with operational leaders to enhance loan quality, service delivery, and member satisfaction.
  • Drive technology initiatives that improve reporting, efficiency, and the lending experience.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, investor, and credit union requirements while maintaining strong risk management standards.
Who We Are

We are Atlantic. Our mission is to help people do better. We’re a fast-moving, inclusive team that cares about getting to the right answer and making good decisions. We value clarity, accountability, and people who aren’t afraid to ask tough questions and challenge how things are done.

Atlantic is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Why Join Atlantic?

At Atlantic, residential lending isn’t a back-office function, it’s a growth engine, and this role leads it. Here’s what you’ll get:

  • A seat at the table with meaningful influence on company direction.
  • Broad exposure across the entire organization.
  • Leadership growth with real autonomy and accountability.
  • A collaborative, growth-oriented culture with flexibility and support.
  • Competitive compensation, full benefits, and 401K match.

You’ll own the strategy, the P&L, and the team with the support of an organization that measures success by the members who get into homes because of the work you do.

Ready to Build Something Bigger?

If you’re ready to lead a residential lending division where you’ll own the strategy, build the team, and grow the business, not just manage the pipeline, we’d love to connect.

Requirements What We’re Looking For:
  • 8+ years of progressive residential mortgage lending leadership experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry-recognized education and certifications.
  • Demonstrated success growing mortgage production, leading sales teams, and driving business development initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of residential lending operations, compliance requirements, market dynamics, and performance management.
  • Proven ability to influence, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional relationship-building, communication, and executive presentation skills.
  • Strategic thinker with a data-driven approach to decision-making and continuous improvement.
