Please join our team and help us keep communities connected! Stantec is looking for an experienced aviation design engineer to join our team and provide ongoing aviation services across Alaska. This position may be based in Anchorage, Fairbanks or Wasilla, AK.
The role of an Aviation Engineer is to lead various airport engineering and planning projects at both commercial service and general aviation airports. You are an engineer of record and project manager; your opportunities are endless. We seek dynamic individuals who want to make their community a better place. The ideal candidate will have a working relationship with our primary client, the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities. Our Airports Team is taking airport design to the next level. From roadway to runway or full terminal design, we'll take your career to new heights.
Your Responsibilities
  • Serve as a technical specialist and consultant to the transportation engineering discipline on aviation related projects.
  • Prepare reports, develop project design elements including plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • Identify and analyze the principal design features and major design alternatives that satisfy the project's purpose and need.
  • Collaborate closely with Regional Practice Leaders in other Business Lines.
  • Peer review plans and provide quality control reviews of technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates.
  • Mentor junior staff in technical design elements and the development of project documents.
  • Recent experience developing aviation projects for the State of Alaska is desired.

Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Thorough knowledge and application of FAA design standards and specifications
  • Proficient in design of aviation/civil engineering projects including alignments, profiles, typical sections, site grading and drainage.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is required.
  • MS Office program experience, especially Word and Excel

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's or higher Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Civil PE License in Alaska is required.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in the field of civil engineering

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

About the Team
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
