SUMMARY OF DUTIES

The Vice President of Marketing and Development serves as the executive leader responsible for advancing SunCoast Blood Centers' external strategy, brand presence, philanthropic growth, and community engagement. This position provides executive leadership for Brand Strategy, Marketing, Community Engagement, Community Relations, Strategic Partnerships, Fund Development, Grant Development, Sponsorship Development, and related outreach initiatives, ensuring a unified approach to strengthening public awareness, organizational visibility, and community investment in SunCoast Blood Centers' lifesaving mission.
The Vice President serves as the organization's steward of the SunCoast brand, ensuring every marketing initiative, community partnership, fundraising effort, sponsorship opportunity, grant initiative, and public engagement activity strengthens community trust, advances the organization's mission, and supports sustainable blood collections. The Vice President is accountable for building public trust, expanding community investment, strengthening the SunCoast brand, and creating the external partnerships and awareness that enable the organization to fulfill its lifesaving mission.
This position develops and executes comprehensive strategies that elevate the SunCoast brand, expand philanthropic support, strengthen strategic partnerships, and increase community engagement throughout the organization's service area. Through innovative marketing, compelling storytelling, and relationship development, the Vice President inspires blood donation, financial investment, volunteerism, and community advocacy while positioning SunCoast Blood Centers as the trusted community blood center throughout the region.
The Vice President collaborates across the organization to align marketing, communications, community engagement, and development initiatives with organizational priorities, ensuring the SunCoast brand, community relationships, and public awareness efforts support sustainable blood collections and long-term organizational growth.
As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Vice President provides strategic counsel to the Chief Executive Officer and collaborates across the organization to ensure all external initiatives support SunCoast's mission, strategic priorities, financial sustainability, and long-term growth.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Executive Leadership
  • Provide executive leadership and strategic oversight for Marketing, Brand Strategy, Community Engagement, Community Relations, Strategic Partnerships, Fund Development, Grant Development, Sponsorship Development, and related outreach initiatives.
  • Develop and execute long-range organizational growth strategies that strengthen community awareness, philanthropic investment, and public engagement.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the Chief Executive Officer regarding organizational growth, external engagement, brand positioning, and community investment.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the division.

Brand Strategy and Marketing

Community Engagement and Community Relations
  • Expand SunCoast's presence throughout the communities it serves by developing meaningful partnerships and community initiatives.

Organizational Growth

  • Establish measurable performance indicators for marketing effectiveness, fundraising, grants, sponsorships, partnerships, and community engagement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Recruitment leadership to develop integrated marketing campaigns and community initiatives that support donor recruitment goals while maintaining clear operational ownership within the Recruitment department.
  • Collaborate with Donor Services, Hospital Services, Finance, Human Resources, and Executive Leadership to ensure organizational alignment and consistent messaging.
  • Support enterprise-wide strategic initiatives that advance SunCoast Blood Centers' mission and long-term objectives.

Financial and Operational Leadership
  • Develop and oversee departmental budgets and resource allocation.
  • Ensure responsible stewardship of organizational resources.
  • Monitor departmental performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Represent SunCoast Blood Centers before community organizations, healthcare partners, media, corporate partners, foundations, and other external stakeholders as designated by the Chief Executive Officer.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education

Certifications (Preferred)
  • Accreditation in Public Relations (APR)

  • Minimum of five (5) years of executive or senior leadership experience leading professional teams.

  • Demonstrated success securing grants, sponsorships, philanthropic support, and strategic community partnerships.
  • Experience leading fundraising initiatives and cultivating relationships with corporations, foundations, civic organizations, and community leaders.
