We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a VP Data Product Development (Hybrid) on our Health Solutions team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 3 days a week in the office.
The Vice President, ProductDevelopment (Data & CPT Solutions) leads the strategy, development, andperformance of the AMA's data-driven product portfolio, including CPT solutionsand Physician Professional Data assets. This role is accountable for drivinginnovation, market expansion, and revenue growth across a diverse set ofhealthcare data products, credentialing solutions, and standards-basedofferings.
The VPensures the delivery of trusted, high-quality data assets while advancing newmarket opportunities, strengthening customer value, and positioning the AMA asthe authoritative leader in healthcare data standards and solutions
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Product Strategy & Portfolio Leadership
  • Lead the integrated Health Solutions product portfolio, including CPT products, credentialing solutions, and physician data assets.
  • Establish and embed a unified product portfolio management framework to sustain revenue streams while developing new growth opportunities.
  • Define and execute product strategy, roadmaps, and investment priorities aligned to enterprise goals and market demand.
  • Lead annual and quarterly planning processes to prioritize initiatives and allocate resources effectively.
  • Oversee portfolio health, performance reporting, and continuous improvement of product delivery practices.

Data Strategy, Governance & Operations
  • Lead enterprise strategy and stewardship of Physician Professional Data, ensuring data quality, integrity, and accessibility.
  • Partner with enterprise data and analytics teams to establish governance frameworks, performance metrics, and reporting standards.
  • Ensure the delivery of trusted, high-quality healthcare data assets supporting enterprise and market needs.
  • Drive interoperability, standards alignment, and innovation in data products, including CPT as a foundational healthcare standard.
  • Serve as enterprise authority on physician data and healthcare data standards.

Product Innovation & Market Growth
  • Identify and develop new products, services, and business models to expand market reach and revenue.
  • Lead commercialization strategies, go-to-market planning, and competitive positioning.
  • Drive growth of credentialing and data solutions portfolios through innovation, partnerships, and market expansion.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers, partners, and industry stakeholders to inform product development.

Financial & Operational Performance
  • Oversee financial performance across the product portfolio, including revenue growth, margin optimization, and investment priorities.
  • Ensure execution of complex, cross-functional initiatives aligned to strategic, financial, and operational goals.
  • Identify and mitigate risks impacting product delivery, growth, and organizational objectives.

Enterprise Leadership & ExternalRepresentation
  • Serve as a member of the Health Solutions leadership team, contributing to strategic and operational planning.
  • Represent the AMA externally as a thought leader in healthcare data, CPT, and credentialing solutions.
  • Build and influence relationships across internal teams, external partners, and industry organizations.

Talent & Organizational Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing product and data organization.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Build organizational capabilities across product management, data operations, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Responsible for setting objectives, evaluating employee performance, and developing staff knowledge and skills to support career development

REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Bachelors degree required; masters degree strongly preferred.
  2. 15+ years of experience in product management, data products, or healthcare technology.
  3. 10+ years of leadership experience managing cross-functional teams and enterprise programs.
  4. 10+ years of people management experience required; able to attract and develop staff.
  5. Experience in healthcare data, standards, or credentialing solutions strongly preferred.
  6. Proven ability to develop strategy and translate into execution and measurable outcomes.Strategic leadership skills and business acumen required
  7. Proven experience with product portfolio and lifecycle management required
  8. Proven experience in developing and implementing strategic plans and converting strategy into actionable initiatives
  9. Demonstrated experience in data governance and analytics-driven decision-making
  10. Market insight and customer-centric innovation
  11. Proven financial and operational management leadership
  12. Strong change leadership skills and ability to influence across an organization
  13. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to drive stakeholder engagement

The American Medical Association is located at 330 N. Wabash Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611 and is convenient to all public transportation in Chicago.
This role is an exempt position, and the salary range for this position is $239,292-$323,044. This is the lowest to highest salary we believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to business consideration and geographical location, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
