Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
This position reports to the Director of, College Veterans Center and provides information/guidance to students and others in a friendly, service-oriented manner regarding the eligibility and processing of Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Education Benefits and the State of Texas Hazlewood Act Exemption. Designated Veterans Affairs Assistant at the College's Veterans Centers (Heritage, Windward & Oso Creek), and assists with other general activities as assigned.
Some travel between Del Mar College Campuses may be required in response to departmental need.
Minimum Qualifications
One (1) year of advanced study or training past the high school diploma or GED equivalency
Six (6) months of related experience
*Any combination of related experience and education may be used.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate courteously and effectively with students, faculty, staff, and the public.
Ability to travel between the different campuses (Heritage, Windward & Oso Creek).
Preferred Qualifications
Veteran with Honorable or, General (Under Honorable Conditions) Discharge.

Perform general office functions at the Veterans Centers (Heritage, Windward & Oso Creek) by answering the phone, providing information on program activities, taking messages and referring callers as appropriate, maintaining Veterans Center cleanliness and integrity of all equipment/supplies, and assisting students as required.
Job Duty
Provide information and guidance about VA Education Benefits and the Hazlewood Act Exemption, assist students with computer applications designed to access Veterans Education Benefits and documents required to process and receive benefits.
Job Duty
Assist students in resolving a variety of problems, including but not limited to receipt of required documents for Veterans Education Benefits: VA Certificate of Eligibility, DD-214's, VA.gov, eBenefits, etc.
Job Duty
Participate and provide support during registration periods at any College campus, center, and outreach events.
Job Duty
Perform other additional duties as assigned.
