Job description

Usher:

We are looking for candidates who can be responsible for the safety of the fans and the ballpark as a whole. These individuals are safety concise and assist with rowdy fans and the clean up of the stands. An addition to working in the stands we require individuals to assist in the playground. This job requires a long amount of time in a stationary position, traversing through stairs, and identifying fans needs.

$13.75 Hourly

Who we are: Weโ€™re the West Michigan Whitecaps, Class High-A Minor League affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. The Whitecaps are in the FUN business and our mission is to provide affordable family entertainment that strengthens the West Michigan community. We create memorable experiences by offering a fun, friendly and inclusive environment.

Why we want you: Youโ€™re an enthusiastic and outgoing people person, with some prior experience in guest service. You're passionate about the fan experience, are a stellar organizer, and get along well with a wide variety of people. You love fast paced environments, meeting new people, and consider yourself a phenomenal communicator. You work hard and play nice, and appreciate a good joke.

Why you want to work here: When you join our team, you become a part of our culture and our story โ€“ weโ€™re small enough that youโ€™ll have an ability to put your stamp on things. Weโ€™ve got an all-hands-on-deck mentality and pitch in when something needs done. We work very hard but we donโ€™t take ourselves too seriously; we realize how important things like office darts and puppy visits and staff happy hours are. Hourly compensation of $13.75. Plus, besides the typical benefits, are free baseball tickets (your friends will love you!), discounted food and beverage, and discounted merchandise! Weโ€™re also pretty great people to work with.

What youโ€™ll do: Youโ€™ll assist guests in a variety of roles while providing a top notch experience at LMCU Ballpark. Different roles could include, but are not limited to: scanning tickets, wiping down seats, monitoring hospitality areas, roaming the stands, monitoring the play land area, and tending to guest questions and concerns, all while wearing a smile! On occasion you will assist in non-Whitecaps baseball special events -- and have a lot of fun doing it!

What you need: Terrific customer service, excellent communication skills and an enthusiasm for sharing your excitement for the Whitecaps brand. The ability to stay on task, focused, organized, and adjust to changing schedules. You'll need to be able to deescalate situations and know when to bring something to Security or Management. Flexibility is key since every day here is different. Youโ€™ll need a willingness to work nights, holidays and weekends on occasion.

Letโ€™s do this: If youโ€™re ready to apply, we look forward to getting to know you. Submit your resume and drop us a cover letter letting us know why youโ€™d be a good fit. Weโ€™ll be in touch!
