Position Summary


Provides oversight of the Nursing Services department and sits as a member of the Executive Team. The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is a senior member of the Executive Leadership Team and provides oversight of the Nursing Services Team of CNAs, LPNs, RNs, and Agency Nursing Staff and other departments.  The CNO is accountable for overall professional nursing practice, ensuring that nursing care standards, policies, and protocols are consistently applied across the Hospital. 

Essential Functions

  • Strategic Leadership: Developing and implementing nursing strategies aligned with the Hospital's mission, vision, and goals
  • Quality and Safety Oversight: Ensuring high-quality patient care, compliance with regulations, and adherence to professional nursing standards
  • Administrative Duties: Budget management, financial forecasting, staffing decisions, and resource allocation 
  • Staff Engagement and Development: Leading nursing teams, mentoring staff, and fostering professional growth 
  • Executive Collaboration: Participating in senior leadership meetings, influencing organizational decisions, and representing nursing perspectives at the executive level 

This position is responsible for the administrative, clinical, regulatory and financial leadership for the following departments: Nursing Services, Emergency Services, Central Sterile Services, Quality, Employee Health, Infection Prevention. Support, coordination, imaging services, laboratory, physical therapy and collaboration with other OMHC departments. This CNO role also includes oversight of the CBA Union Nursing staff and the daily scheduling of the Nursing Department.
 

Requirements

Required Education and Certification

  • BSN in Nursing required, MSN preferred.
  • Washington state licensure as a Registered Nurse, current and unrestricted.
  • Current SLS, ACLS, ATLS, PALS certifications or be able to obtain.
  • Current CPR training and certification
