Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Partners with stakeholders, subject matter experts, and business leaders to assess performance needs, define learning objectives, and recommend appropriate learning solutions aligned to business priorities.
  • Defines instructional direction for learning assets, partnering with graphic designers, media designers, video specialists, and production contributors who develop the visual, multimedia, and production-ready deliverables.
  • Applies instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles, and learner-centered strategies to create engaging, effective, and scalable learning experiences.
  • Creates design documents, storyboards, content outlines, and review drafts to guide development and ensure alignment among stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional partners to manage content development from intake through review, revision, approval, publication, and maintenance.
  • Evaluates learning effectiveness using feedback, performance data, and other measures; recommends and implements improvements to increase relevance, engagement, and transfer of learning.
  • Maintains existing learning content and documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, accessibility, and alignment with current business processes, products, and standards.
  • Advises internal partners on content structure, learning modalities, assessment strategy, and use of learning technologies to support efficient and effective development.
  • Supports prioritization and project planning across multiple initiatives, balancing timelines, stakeholder expectations, and content quality.
  • Contributes to continuous improvement of team processes, templates, standards, and design practices within the existing training development group.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, education, learning technologies, communications, or a related field
  • 4-7 years of experience in instructional design, learning experience design, curriculum development, or related content development roles
  • Demonstrated experience conducting needs analysis, defining measurable learning objectives, and translating complex information into clear instructional messaging and content frameworks
  • Strong stakeholder management and project coordination skills, with the ability to guide content development across multiple contributors and priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to consult with subject matter experts and provide clear instructional direction and feedback
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, assessment strategies, accessibility considerations, and digital content development best practices
  • Experience working with learning technologies and collaborating effectively with graphic, media, video, and production partners to bring instructionally sound content to completion
  • Preferred experience in aviation, technical training, regulated environments, or other settings requiring accurate, process-driven instructional content
