Requisition ID:                       65710                          Title: Supervisor - Textile Manufacturing - Sutures - Nights

Arthrex is a global medical device company and a leader in new product development and medical education in orthopedics. Arthrex Manufacturing is actively searching for a Supervisor. This position will be located at the new Arthrex manufacturing facility in Pendleton, SC. The hours for this position are Night Shift (7:15p - 5:45a Monday - Thursday)       

 

Main Objective:

To oversee, manage and provide direction to the manufacturing department that will effectively and profitably meet or exceed the internal and /or external client's expectations by providing superior quality products and service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform training of manufacturing teams, test comprehension and evaluate training effectiveness
  • Monitors production plan meeting daily production schedules and reports status
  • Ensures that production goals are met consistently
  • Gives input for introduction of new products into the plant
  • Assures proper maintenance of equipment and tooling
  • Monitors employee performance through goal setting
  • Identifies and promptly tackles morale problems
  • Delegates responsibility and works with others to develop their capabilities
  • Maintains attendance records, overtime, work schedules and implements company policies.
  • Reviews, counsels, evaluates, disciplines, hires and discharges employees with the assistance of HR
  • Monitors and controls scrap
  • Recommends proper staffing levels based on production needs
  • Maintains currency with ISO/FDA and internal quality assurance policies

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree is Operations Management, Business, or related field is preferred preferred.
  • 5 years of manufacturing experience required, OR 3 years of progressive manufacturing experience AND a bachelor's degree.
  • 3 years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Self motivated invidual, with ability to take new products and establish supporting manufacturing documentation including SOP's, standard work instructions
  • Well versed in Lean Manufacturing / Visual management techniques, promotes them and able to apply them to manufacturing processes to optimize process and ensure Quality is built in
  • Quality Focused, active contributor to addressing Quality issues in a timely manner and able to participate in Root Cause Analsysis to ensure issues are dealt with effectively
  • Experienced in Medical Device industry, in both manual assembly process but also automation manufacturing environment a plus
  • Strong safety/environmental background, experienced in the safe handling and processing of routine chemicals A plus
  • Experienced in suture assembly and processing techniques, including needle attaching, winding techniques and packaging highly preferred

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Language and Communication Skills:

Ability to comprehend and apply language skills to the degree required to perform the job based upon the job requirements listed above.  Ability to verbally communicate ideas and issues effectively to other team members and management.  Ability to write and record data and information as required by procedures.
