Job Description:
The Integration & Test Engineer is responsible for the planning, manufacturing and production support, and technical execution for the integration and test of Naval training ranges and other seabed electronic and acoustic systems. The position operates primarily as an individual contributor with occasional assignments to lead small teams, executing a variety of integration and test activities. When testing issues arise, this position will either lead or participate in structured and/or ad-hoc problem solving activities. In addition to tactical execution, this position will support driving continuous improvement activities within the I&T knowledge domain. This includes but is not limited to test procedure/work instruction development, tool enhancements, training, and mentoring.
This position will report to the Electrical Engineering Manager and may be provided other EE tasking when possible. Typical day to day responsibilities would be driving and managing integration and test artifacts such as test plans, test procedures, verification/validation test matrices, test configuration reports, defect reports, and test reports. This position will work intimately with test engineers, manufacturing engineers and electrical engineers to provide real-time support and guidance with respect to test plans, procedures, manufacturing support and system integration. To perform effectively, it is expected that this position be knowledgeable of system requirements and system operations. This position requires a person that is detailed oriented, structured, well-organized, and can effectively communicate cross functionally between Electrical Engineering and other disciplines and business functions.
Essential Functions:
  • Create and execute test procedures from circuit cards to full system integration.
  • Support acoustic hydrophone testing accomplished at subcontract laboratory facilities.
  • Support Manufacturing test at all levels of system production.
  • Design and build test fixtures as required working with Engineering and Manufacturing personnel.
  • Maintain lab area in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Participate in problem solving regarding product testing and qualification including attending Engineering Review Boards and Change Control Boards to request revisions to test documentation.
  • Perform other electrical or test engineering duties within incumbent's abilities.
  • Hands on position that requires the use of a wide array electrical test equipment and custom test fixtures.
  • Responsible for performing the integration and/or test of all components, ensuring electrical and physical compatibility to meet program technical, schedule and cost objectives.
  • Responsible for the physical and electrical compatibility of functional interfaces and first article product integration, ensuring seamless interface between the design and production systems.
  • Testing responsibilities may include analyzing requirements for testability issues.
  • Develops and implements both hardware, software, firmware and system level test programs, plans, specifications, procedures, reports, and customer acceptance.
  • Up to 30% field support (travel), as required.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to obtain security clearance at the DoD Secret level which requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Broad-based technical knowledge and experience in order to understand and evaluate testing activities across the engineering functions.
  • Experience developing test plans and test procedures from requirements.
  • Experience in testing circuit cards, electrical assemblies, optical components, power products and working in a high voltage environment
  • Level 5: B.S. in Electrical Engineering or comparable discipline with a minimum 9 years of prior relevant technical experience; or Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Level 4: B.S. in Electrical Engineering or comparable discipline with a minimum 6 years of prior relevant technical experience; or Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • Level 3: B.S. in Electrical Engineering or comparable discipline with a minimum 4 years of prior relevant technical experience; or Graduate Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB layout using tools such as Cadence/Allegro or Xpedition.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, permutations etc. to electrical/electronic design and analysis.
  • Experience with electrical design and simulation using tools such as SPICE, MATLAB, PTC Mathcad.
  • Experience with software programming and firmware design using AMD Vivado and Vitis.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Maryland is $88,500- $164,500 for Level 3, $102,00- 189,000 for Level 4, $122,000- $227,000 for Level 5. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris also offers a variety of benefits, including health and disability insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, EAP, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and company-paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
