Logistics Coordinator - East Chicago, IN
Starting Pay: $20.00 per hour

Position Overview:
Road & Rail Services is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Logistics Coordinator to join our team in East Chicago, IN. In this key administrative role, you will manage the coordination and documentation of inbound and outbound shipments, working closely with trucking companies and field operations to ensure efficient, compliant, and timely movement of products.

This is a full-time, onsite position in a fast-paced logistics environment supporting the transloading of hazardous and non-hazardous materials. While you will not be involved in the physical loading or unloading process, your work will be essential to keeping operations running smoothly and safely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the scheduling and dispatch of inbound and outbound trucks in collaboration with field operations and carrier partners
  • Prepare accurate and compliant shipping documents, including bills of lading, hazmat documentation, and inventory tracking forms
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, field personnel, and external partners to ensure seamless handoffs and timely delivery
  • Monitor, update, and maintain logistics records, shipment data, and document logs in internal systems
  • Support daily reporting, compliance tracking, and document retention practices in accordance with company, OSHA, FRA, and EPA requirements
  • Assist with administrative tasks to support logistics and transloading operations

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; additional education or certification in logistics, business, or a related field is a plus
  • Previous experience in transportation, logistics, dispatching, or shipping/receiving preferred
  • Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office (especially Excel), and basic logistics software
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to coordinate across teams and vendors
  • Familiarity with hazmat documentation or DOT shipping regulations is a plus
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working independently in a deadline-driven environment

Working Conditions:
This is an office-based position located onsite at an active transloading terminal. While interaction with field staff and drivers is regular, this role does not involve physical labor or outdoor duties. Standard work hours apply, with occasional flexibility based on shipment schedules.
