Job description

Position Title - Field Finisher Technician
Job Description Summary:
Responsible for startup, troubleshooting, calibrating, producing, and installing functional 3 or 5 axis DMS/FMT CNC routers to DMS and customer specifications; Travels (up to 50%) to customer locations for installation and training.
Specific Job Duties
  • Work with proposals, blueprints, diagrams, and other computer-generated models of the CNC router to ensure the machine is operating per build specifications
  • Identify faulty components or mistakes in the mechanical and electrical assembly process and collaboratively work with others to resolve issues
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems that arise during the start-up and calibration of the machines; and troubleshoot PLC code
  • Calibrate all axis using the controller, laser, and dial indicator
  • Machine table to customer specs
  • Assist Electrical Assembly department on occasions
  • Produce a complete CNC router and work with QC department to resolve any open issues
  • Up to 50% travel to customer sites for machine installation and customer training
  • Update documentation as required for departmental processes (Finisher checklists, travel expense reports, SalesForce installation case management, etc.)
  • Utilize a variety of shop equipment, such as hand and power tools, hoists, and machine tools; also use special electrical and electronic equipment such as oscilloscope, amp, volt, and ohm meters, multi-meter, ball bars, calibration lasers, etc.
  • Utilize safe working habits, follow CNC safety protocols and customer site safety protocols; is conscientious to not endanger self, others, equipment, or property; maintains work area in a neat and orderly manner to minimize unsafe conditions
  • Attend training sessions as needed to advance personal proficiency and knowledge
  • Provide input for process improvement regarding departmental processes
  • Assist in training other employees
  • Arrive each day on time
  • Other duties as assigned
Skills /Physical Job Requirements
  • Associate Degree or technical trade school related to electrical mechanical, experience with basic electronics, CNC and/or mechanics background, controller, and PLC knowledge
  • PREFERRED SKILLS: Knowledge of Fagor controller operation and DMS CNC routers
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to accommodate production build plans
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Troubleshooting Skills to identify flaws in assembly process using prints, voltmeter, lasers, etc.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills that can be applied to electromechanical troubleshooting
  • Adapt to changing assignments as needed for training or production floor needs
  • Ability to be self-motivated to achieve training goals, quality goals and/or complete customer visits on time
  • Ability to work with other employees to achieve group commitments and goals
  • Be flexible for travel schedule in order to meet scheduling needs of the customer; be willing to work long days when required to complete the production finishing schedule or customer visit
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both in writing and in speech when engaging with the customer and co-workers; ability to professionally engage customer on installation trips
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and have stamina to work long hours on their feet; should be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or climb and work from a ladder
  • Good Vision ability to include color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Exposure to risk of electrical shock, machine mechanical movements, fumes, and/or airborne particles
  • Dependable and punctual attendance
Must be able to comply with the Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS), COVID-19 Vaccination and Testing protocols.
