Overview

Cannon Companies is seeking a hands-on, field-focused OSP Telecommunication Foreman to lead our utility construction crews directly on the job site in construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications infrastructure. Boots on the ground, tools in hand, and a crew looking to you for direction-- perfect for foremen who thrive working alongside their crews.

You will be setting the pace, and demonstrating the highest standards of safety, craftsmanship, and professionalism. This position is responsible for ensuring project deadlines, quality standards, and safety expectations are consistently met. The ideal candidate thrives in the field, leads by example, and is a skilled leader with strong technical knowledge of telecom systems, copper and fiber installations, and field construction practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and schedule labor, equipment, and materials for assigned projects.
  • Perform and oversee installation, termination, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting of copper and fiber networks.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and project specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA standards, and local regulations.
  • Conduct site safety meetings, hazard assessments, and enforce safe work practices.
  • Track project progress, documentation, and daily reporting.
  • Communicate clearly with project managers, inspectors, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Perform quality inspections and ensure workmanship meets industry and company standards.
  • Train and mentor crew members to improve performance and productivity.
  • Operate and oversee use of telecom construction equipment, lifts, and tools.

Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of experience in telecommunications construction or related field.
  • At least 1-2 years of leadership or foreman-level experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of fiber optic and copper installation procedures.
  • Ability to read construction drawings and splice documentation.
  • Working understanding of safety standards and best practices.
  • Valid driver's license; CDL preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work outdoors, at heights, and in various field environments.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Preferred Certifications
    • OSHA 10 or 30
    • First Aid/CPR
