Field Supervisor – Telecommunications

Position Summary

Buckley Cable Construction is seeking experienced FieldSupervisors to oversee telecommunications construction operations in the West Palm Beach and Orlando markets.

The Field Construction Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day execution, scheduling, quality, safety, and performance of field construction activities. This is a hands-on leadership position that spends approximately 80% of the time in the field, working directly with technicians, construction crews, subcontractors, and Project Managers.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of telecommunications construction practices and be able to keep multiple crews and projects moving while maintaining customer commitments, construction standards, and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate daily field activities for telecommunications construction crews and subcontractors.
  • Develop and manage daily and weekly construction schedules based on project priorities and available resources.
  • Assign and route work to field crews, technicians, splicers, and subcontractors.
  • Hold field personnel accountable to scheduled construction dates and project commitments.
  • Track scheduled versus completed work and develop recovery plans when commitments are missed.
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor job readiness, construction progress, productivity, quality, and safety.
  • Perform quality-control inspections and ensure work meets customer specifications and company standards.
  • Oversee aerial and underground cable and fiber construction activities.
  • Identify and resolve field issues involving access, materials, equipment, design, utilities, permitting, or construction.
  • Ensure crews have the prints, materials, equipment, permits, and job information necessary before dispatch.
  • Oversee subcontractor performance, productivity, quality, and schedule compliance.
  • Mentor and train field employees on safe and effective construction practices.
  • Troubleshoot construction and field issues and make timely operational decisions.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers regarding priorities, customer commitments, scheduling, and project status.
  • Address field-related customer concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Ensure required field documentation, photos, redlines, footage, and completion information are submitted accurately and on time.
  • Ensure work is performed safely and in accordance with company policies, OSHA requirements, and applicable customer standards.
  • Monitor company vehicles, tools, and equipment assigned to field operations.
  • Escalate projects that are blocked, overdue, or at risk of missing customer commitments.
  • Participate in production, scheduling, and backlog reviews as required.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of telecommunications construction experience required.
  • Current or previous experience supervising field construction crews required.
  • Experience with aerial and/or underground cable and fiber construction required.
  • Experience with Outside Plant (OSP), CATV, HFC, fiber optic, Metro-E, or commercial telecommunications construction preferred.
  • Experience overseeing subcontractor crews preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand construction prints, maps, designs, and work packages.
  • Strong scheduling, organizational, and field-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple crews and active projects simultaneously.
  • Strong troubleshooting and on-the-spot decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned projects.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with customers, property representatives, employees, and subcontractors.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must successfully complete required pre-employment drug screening and MVR review.
  • Ability to travel throughout the assigned market.
Work Environment & Schedule

This is a field-based position with approximately 80% of the workday spent in the field. Supervisors must be comfortable visiting active construction sites and working outdoors in Florida weather conditions.

Some weekend, evening, emergency, and on-call availability may be required based on customer and project needs.

Responsible for projects throughout West Palm Beach, Palm Beach County, Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Fort Pierce, and surrounding areas.

Orlando Area
Responsible for projects throughout Orlando and surrounding Central Florida markets.
