AMERICAN SYSTEMS is looking for its next Technical Writer II !!! AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a Technical Writer II to support the NISSC 3 program in Colorado Springs. The Technical Writer II will create, edit, and manage technical and programmatic documentation, ensuring clarity, consistency, and compliance with contract requirements. This role supports audits, proposals, management meetings, and program reviews by providing highquality documentation and technical editorial support for internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities โ€ข Create, edit, and manage technical and programmatic documentation, including process instructions, standard operating procedures, meeting minutes, program reports, and technical/user manuals. โ€ข Ensure documentation is clear, consistent, and aligned with contract, program, and customer requirements. โ€ข Develop and maintain documentation templates and style guidelines to support consistent formatting and terminology across program artifacts. โ€ข Capture and document meeting minutes, decisions, action items, and tracking information for program and technical reviews. โ€ข Prepare and edit content to support audits, proposals, management meetings, and program reviews, ensuring completeness and accuracy. โ€ข Provide technical editorial support for documents intended for both internal and external distribution, including briefings, reports, and presentations. โ€ข Collaborate with engineers, program managers, and other subject matter experts to translate technical information into accessible, high-quality documentation. โ€ข Review documents for grammar, style, accuracy, and compliance with applicable standards and data item descriptions (DIDs), as required. โ€ข Maintain version control and documentation libraries/repositories to ensure current and historical documents are properly stored and retrievable. Qualifications โ€ข 4-6 years of experience in technical writing, editing, or documentation management, preferably in a defense, aerospace, or engineering environment. โ€ข Proficient writing and editing skills for creating, reviewing, and managing technical and programmatic documentation. โ€ข Demonstrated ability to ensure consistency, clarity, and compliance with contract and program requirements across multiple document types. โ€ข Experience preparing documentation that supports audits, proposals, management reviews, and/or formal program reviews. โ€ข Familiarity with technical editorial processes, document control, and configuration/version management. โ€ข Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and nontechnical stakeholders. โ€ข BA/BS in a related field (e.g., English, Communications, Technical Writing, Journalism, Business, or related discipline), OR High School Diploma/GED plus 6 additional years of directly related technical writing or documentation experience (in lieu of degree). โ€ข Minimum: Active Secret clearance with eligibility to obtain TS/SCI. โ€ข Relevant writing, editing, or documentation certifications are a plus but not required.
