Job description

Description

About Us

eSimplicity is a modern digital services company that partners with government agencies to improve the lives and protect the well-being of all Americans, from veterans and service members to children, families, and seniors. Our engineers, designers, and strategists cut through complexity to create intuitive products and services that equip federal agencies with solutions to courageously transform today for a better tomorrow.

Our Defense and National Security (DNS) business unit delivers mission-critical technology across spectrum management, electromagnetic spectrum operations (EMSO), C4ISR, AI/ML, and intelligence community (IC) integration - partnering with the Navy, DHS, DoD, and IC customers to solve their hardest problems. We are designers, engineers, analysts, thinkers, makers, and innovators. Simply. Better.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Technical Director for our Defense and National Security business unit - a senior technical executive who will set the technical direction, shape winning solutions, and serve as eSimplicity's external voice of authority across the DNS mission space. Reporting to the DNS General Manager, the Technical Director partners with program directors, capture and proposal leaders, and customer stakeholders to translate complex defense and intelligence mission needs into credible, differentiated technical approaches.

This is a hybrid leadership and thought-leadership role. Internally, you will provide strategic technical oversight and ensure architectural delivery excellence and growth across a spectrum of engineering and electronic warfare system integrations across Defense and National Security agencies.

Externally, you will represent eSimplicity in customer engagements, industry forums, and teaming conversations with partners such as Palantir, and position the firm as a trusted technical authority in spectrum, EMSO, C4ISR, and mission-focused AI/ML.

The ideal candidate brings deep domain authority in one or more DNS anchor areas: RF/EW/spectrum operations, C4ISR-targeting, or AI/ML mission acquisition plus the executive presence to engage at the flag, SES, and C-suite level. Candidates with strong RF/EW/spectrum credentials are especially encouraged to apply, reflecting the strategic importance of the spectrum mission to DNS's growth.

This role follows a hybrid schedule. Employees are required to work on-site Tuesdays and Thursdays, with remote work on other days as business needs allow.

Responsibilities

  • Set the technical direction for DNS. Own the technical vision, architecture standards, and solution quality across the DNS portfolio. Partner with program leaders to ensure delivery teams are applying the right approaches to spectrum, EMSO, C4ISR, AI/ML, and IC mission system challenges.
  • Drive thought leadership in RF/EW/spectrum and adjacent mission domains. Represent eSimplicity as a recognized technical voice in spectrum management, electromagnetic spectrum operations, spectrum sharing, and related emerging policy and technology areas (e.g., NTIA spectrum auction modernization, post-quantum readiness, agentic AI for mission workflows). Advance the state-of-the-art in spectrum dominance by architecting solutions that leverage latest commercial inventions in automation and AI to revolutionize spectrum sharing studies and licensing processes. Publish, speak, and engage customers and partners to extend the firm's authority.
  • Shape winning solutions. Serve as the senior technical author and solution owner on strategic pursuits and priority proposals. Collaborate with Capture, Solution Strategy, and Chief Solutions Architect leaders to define win themes, discriminators, and technical approaches that are compliant, compelling, and executable. Specifically, you will design automated pipelines that utilize AI to accelerate interference analysis and spectrum coexistence modeling, bringing a "next-level" competitive edge to our technical offerings.
  • Serve as the customer-facing senior technical executive. Build and sustain trusted relationships with technical counterparts across Navy (NMSC, NIWDC, NAVWAR), DHS (CBP, USCIS), Air Force, DISA, FCC, and IC customers. Lead technical discussions on customer engagements, program reviews, and executive briefings.
  • Lead technical governance across the portfolio. Establish and maintain technical review gates, architecture and engineering standards, and lessons-learned processes that raise the floor of technical quality across DNS programs. Chair Technical Review Boards for strategic programs.
  • Advance eSimplicity's AI/ML and agentic AI posture in defense and IC missions. Partner with the CIO, CTO, and DNS GM to mature our approach to agentic AI trust, explainable AI, AI-accelerated RMF/ATO, and Palantir Vanguard integration. Translate emerging AI capability into defense and IC mission outcomes.
  • Mentor and elevate technical talent. Coach program technical leads, solution architects, and principal engineers. Help grow the next layer of DNS technical leadership. Partner with HR and program leaders on recruiting senior technical staff.
  • Engage the partner ecosystem. Cultivate technical relationships with strategic partners (Palantir, cloud and AI providers, spectrum and EW vendors, 8(a) and SDVOSB partners). Shape joint technical value propositions that strengthen DNS positioning on major pursuits.
  • Advise DNS leadership on technology strategy. Provide the DNS GM with objective technical assessment of investments, pursuits, build-versus-buy decisions, teaming choices, and emerging capability areas. Contribute to DNS operating rhythm, scorecard reviews, and ELT deliverables.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • Typically requires 15+ years of progressive experience in defense, intelligence, or mission systems, with demonstrated technical leadership at the enterprise level. Education may be substituted with additional relevant experience: Solutions Architecture / Capture
  • Demonstrated senior executive presence: ability to engage credibly with flag/SES/C-suite customer leaders, government program executives, and industry principals.
  • Deep domain authority in at least one DNS anchor area: (a) RF/EW/spectrum management, EMSO, or spectrum sharing; (b) C4ISR, targeting, or mission systems integration; or (c) AI/ML mission acquisition, data analytics, or IC integration. RF/EW/spectrum depth is strongly preferred. Proficiency in applying AI/ML frameworks to automate complex regulatory or technical spectrum tasks (e.g., automated licensing, dynamic sharing) is highly valued.
  • Proven record of shaping and winning competitive federal technology pursuits as a senior technical solution owner or principal solution architect.
  • Hands-on familiarity with modern defense and IC technology patterns: cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP), DevSecOps, data pipelines, AI/ML product integration, RMF/ATO, and zero-trust architectures.
  • Experience leading or advising multi-vendor, cross-functional technical teams on programs of meaningful scale and mission consequence.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; comfortable authoring executive-level technical narratives, proposal sections, white papers, and customer-facing briefings.
  • Active Top Secret clearance required; TS/SCI eligibility preferred. Ability to obtain additional access as mission requires.
  • U.S. citizenship required.

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior uniformed or civilian service in Navy Cryptologic Warfare, Information Warfare, Information Operations, Air Force 17X, Army EW/Cyber, or equivalent spectrum/EW mission communities.
  • Direct experience with Navy spectrum management (NMSC, NAVWAR), NIWDC EMSO training programs, FCC spectrum, Link-16 EMC, or OSD/NTIA spectrum policy.
  • Experience implementing commercial automation tools or proprietary AI models to streamline spectrum sharing and frequency assignment is a significant plus
  • Experience with Palantir Foundry/Gotham, agentic AI platforms, or LLM integration in defense and IC mission contexts.
  • Experience supporting IC mission acquisition programs (e.g., NGA Maven, IC ITE, NRO/NGA/DIA mission partners).
  • Published thought leadership: conference talks, papers, or industry advisory roles in spectrum, EMSO, AI/ML acquisition, or IC integration.
  • Advanced degree (M.S., M.A., or equivalent) in a technical or national security discipline.
  • Cloud, DevSecOps, SAFe, PMP, or equivalent industry certifications.

Working Environment

eSimplicity supports a hybrid work environment operating within the Eastern time zone so we can work with and respond to our government clients. Expected hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern unless otherwise directed by your manager.

Travel is estimated at 15-25% per year for customer engagements, industry events, program reviews, and occasional OCONUS site visits supporting Navy spectrum and related mission programs.

Benefits:

eSimplicity offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) retirement benefits, paid time off, paid holidays, life and disability insurance, and additional wellness and employee support programs.
