What is a tech executive?

Tech executives are high-level leaders within technology-focused organizations or departments, typically holding titles such as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Chief Information Officer (CIO), or Vice President of Engineering. They are responsible for setting the technological vision, overseeing the development and implementation of tech strategies, and ensuring that technology initiatives align with the company’s overall business goals. Tech executives also manage teams, budgets, and partnerships, and they play a key role in driving innovation and digital transformation within their organizations.

How do tech executives typically collaborate with other departments to drive innovation within an organization?

Tech Executives frequently work cross-functionally with leaders from marketing, operations, finance, and product development to align technology initiatives with overall business goals. They often lead or participate in strategy meetings, encourage open communication among teams, and foster a culture where new ideas are welcomed and evaluated. This collaborative approach helps identify opportunities for digital transformation and ensures that technology investments support company-wide innovation. Tech Executives also mentor technical teams to bridge gaps between technical solutions and business needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a tech executive, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Tech Executive, you need deep expertise in technology strategy, business acumen, and leadership, often supported by an advanced degree in computer science or business. Familiarity with enterprise IT systems, cloud platforms, cybersecurity frameworks, and experience with project management tools are typically essential. Exceptional communication, visionary thinking, and the ability to inspire and manage diverse teams set top performers apart. These skills are crucial for aligning technology initiatives with business goals, driving innovation, and leading organizations through digital transformation.

Your Role: Executive IT Support Partner
Elanco is seeking a customer-obsessed and highly experienced IT professional to serve as a trusted technology partner to our executive leadership team at our Global Headquarters. This is a highly visible role responsible for delivering a world-class, white-glove technology experience for our CEO, his direct reports, the Board of Directors, and their assistants, while also serving as the IT Site Owner for our Indianapolis headquarters. You will proactively anticipate needs, remove technology barriers, and ensure our leaders can focus on running the business, not troubleshooting IT. This role is critical in maintaining operational excellence and requires a unique blend of technical mastery, impeccable communication, and strategic problem-solving.
Your Responsibilities
  • Deliver premium 'white-glove' IT support for the CEO, Executive Committee, their Executive Assistants, and other senior stakeholders.

  • Provide dedicated, end-to-end technology planning and support for quarterly Board of Directors meetings. This includes traveling to offsite locations 3-4 times per year, preparing and transporting all necessary backup equipment, and ensuring a flawless technical experience for all board members.

  • Orchestrate and deliver flawless IT execution for high-profile events, including Executive Leadership Meetings, Global Town Halls, and investor meetings, managing everything from video setup to live streaming support.

  • Provide rapid, proactive, and highly personalized support for executive laptops, mobile devices, collaboration technologies, conferencing systems, and peripherals.

  • Build trusted relationships with executives and executive assistants by understanding individual technology preferences and business needs.

  • Serve as the IT Site owner for Elanco Global Headquarters.

  • Ensure conference rooms, executive meeting spaces, collaboration areas, and training facilities remain fully operational and production-ready.

  • Provide basic technical support for social media initiatives, including assistance with video content and other digital media as needed.

  • Partner closely with Global IT teams to align local technology services with enterprise standards.

  • Manage third-party vendors and ensure contracted service levels are consistently achieved.

  • Oversee local IT procurement and manage selective internal processes.

  • Develop and monitor KPIs for service delivery, customer satisfaction, response times, and operational excellence.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

  • 7+ years of enterprise IT support experience in a mid-to-large corporate environment.

  • A minimum of 5 years of dedicated experience providing 'white-glove' IT support directly to C-level executives, their direct reports, and executive assistants.

  • Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership for high-stakes corporate events, including offsite Board of Directors meetings, shareholder meetings, and all-hands town halls.

  • Strong experience supporting: Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams & Teams Rooms hardware, Lenovo laptops, Apple macOS, iPhone/iPad, Enterprise printing, and basic networking/AV technologies.

  • Experience using ServiceNow or similar IT Service Management platforms.

  • Experience managing IT vendors and procurement activities.

  • Outstanding troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving abilities.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to confidently interact with executive leadership.

  • Willingness to provide frequent after-hours and on-call support as dictated by executive and business needs.

Preferred Qualifications (Competitive Edge)
Candidates with one or more of the following qualifications will be highly regarded:
  • ITIL Foundation Certification.

  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or equivalent certifications.

  • Business Relationship Management (BRM) experience.

  • Customer Success or Executive Technology Support experience.

Additional Information
  • Location: Elanco Global Headquarters, Indianapolis, Indiana

  • Travel: Up to 15%, primarily for quarterly Board of Directors meetings.

  • Work Arrangement: Primarily on-site to provide immediate executive support and ensure operational excellence at Headquarters.

  • Work Authorization: Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Elanco does not anticipate providing visa sponsorship (e.g., H-1B or TN) for this position.
