General Summary
The Systems Analyst serves as an information analyst by providing reporting and data analysis to support key stakeholders across Odessa College. This position collaborates with Information Systems (IS) and campus departments to support enterprise data management, system integrations, and business processes. The Systems Analyst also provides technical support for the College's software applications and database systems, ensuring data integrity, system reliability, and effective user support. Odessa College utilizes the Ellucian Colleague ERP system as its primary enterprise resource planning system, and this position supports its ongoing administration, reporting, and functionality.
Specific Position Duties
  • Provide support for various offices and users across the institution.
  • Participate in the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of college databases and systems.
  • Communicate and collaborate with business units to develop a strong understanding of reporting, data, and application needs.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to define project requirements and identify data dependencies and relationships that align with enterprise information guidelines.
  • Provide guidance and support for Information Systems (IS) initiatives across the college.
  • Maintain compliance with institutional information security requirements and assist in ensuring applications adhere to all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist in developing procedures to ensure the integrity of the Colleague ERP system and related databases.
  • Support compliance with data management regulations and institutional policies related to security, auditing, and privacy.
  • Fulfill ad hoc data requests in accordance with established data governance, security policies, and best practices.
  • Develop reports and data visualizations for Odessa College using tools such as Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
  • Analyze and resolve complex data-related issues using a variety of technical and analytical skills.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the Colleague ERP system to assign and manage user access based on institutional roles and security requirements.
  • Troubleshoot application, database, and connectivity issues in a timely manner.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with business units, technical staff, and third-party support partners to resolve ERP-related issues.
  • Document applications, processes, and procedures, and provide cross-functional training as needed.
  • Collaborate with end users across all functional modules to document business requirements for system upgrades and enhancements.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of information encountered in the course of business regarding students, supervisors, employees, and other institutional records.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree in Computer Science or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of systems analysis and information technology principles.
  • Experience with reporting and analytic applications.
  • Experience with understanding and writing SQL.

  • Excellent communication skills.
