Job Title: Information Systems Analyst Exemption Status: Exempt
Reports to: Executive Director of Financial Services Days: 226
Dept./School: Information Systems Paygrade: Professional 2 or 3 DOQ
Primary Purpose:
Evaluates business workflows to eliminate bottlenecks, implement continuous process improvements, and develop SQL queries and reporting systems to advance district goals. Delivers end-user support, manages Frontline SIS access, and creates enterprise software training materials for staff. Working alongside the Information Systems Administrator, the analyst helps oversee data processing operations and ensures high-quality customer service across campuses and departments.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, statistics, data analysis, or a related field
required
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to develop spreadsheets, perform data analysis
Experience with managing student information systems (Frontline SIS)
Knowledge of PEIMS (TSDS) submissions and data elements
Knowledge of the Texas Public Information Act (TPIA)
Knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
Knowledge of fundamental principles of data analysis, including statistical and mathematical
computations and measurements.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to interact with professional employees, students and district patrons
Ability to handle sensitive district data, student records, and system permissions with the highest level of discretion and strict adherence to confidentiality guidelines (such as FERPA)
Experience:
3 + years of progressive experience providing end-user software support, administering Frontline SIS (or a comparable Student Information System), managing user permissions, and developing SQL queries or custom reports to support organizational operations.
Strong understanding of relational database structures, tables, views, and stored procedures, with advanced skill in writing and troubleshooting SQL queries
Proficiency in designing, developing, and modifying enterprise reports using reporting tools such as Cognos, Jaspersoft, or Crystal Reports.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
System Analysis and Reporting
  1. Analyze and interpret data and provide clear and concise narrative and graphic explanations of data and trends.
  2. Learn and understand data and reporting requirements as determined by local, state, or federal needs.
  3. Use appropriate software packages for project needs, including (Frontline SIS/ERP & Laserfiche).
  4. Determine security concerns for data when involved with entry, reporting, or extraction of data.
  5. Provide support to users for assigned systems within the student information system as well as assigned third party packages.
  6. Manage user access and permissions for core information systems
  7. Develops and maintains Information Systems training guides, materials, and manuals for the enterprise software applications
  8. Coordinates and provides excellent customer service to campuses, departments, and all district staff that interact with the Department of Information Systems
  9. Work within project guidelines and time constraints.
  10. Assist supervisors and/or other departmental staff with the coordination of data requests and assessment information.
  11. Assist supervisors and departmental staff in the preparation of reports for presentation to district staff and leadership, and the school board, as requested.
  12. Prioritize and schedule own work based on competing demands of multiple projects.
  13. Anticipate data needs.
  14. Maintain and refine systems to log, organize, and process external research requests.

  1. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in the area of information management and technology.
  2. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  3. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
