Position Description:
Architects, designs, and builds highly scalable, resilient, and secure data solutions using modern data architecture techniques and cloud data technologies. Implements relational and NoSQL databases, data warehouses, data lakes, streaming technologies, master data management, distributed databases, Snowflake, and reporting and analytics solutions. Authors and drives technology data strategy initiatives for key portfolios, including fixed income modernization and enhancements on prime brokerage in the capital markets domain, while expanding to shared operations data stores and Snowflake-based data warehouses.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Defines and executes technology multi-year data technology road map and multi-year data strategy for enterprise initiatives.
  • Architects and designs enterprise data solutions leveraging modern data integration frameworks, distributed systems, and emerging data architecture patterns.
  • Ensures technology decisions align with architecture standards and governance strategies.
  • Builds and maintains effective relationships within the architecture product area, squad, and chapter leads.
  • Supports testing, validation, and documentation of data systems to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Provides technical leadership and hands-on solutions to agile teams, ensuring alignment with architecture standards and strategies.
  • Collaborates with engineering leaders, product leaders, and application development teams to cultivate innovation, drive standardization, and deliver next-generation data ecosystems.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Architect (or closely related occupation) performing application architecture, design, and development in a financial services and data-oriented product environment, using Cloud technologies and Agile methodologies (Scrum).
Or, alternatively, Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Architect (or closely related occupation) performing application architecture, design, and development in a financial services and data-oriented product environment, using Cloud technologies and Agile methodologies (Scrum).
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") architecting and designing scalable backend infrastructure for a finance application suite by modeling data flow and user interactions, using Lambda and using AWS Step Functions or Amazon Managed Airflow, and using Elastic MapReduce or AWS Glue; and developing storage strategies including partitioning, availability, archival, and caching to optimize performance and reliability, using AWS S3, AWS Glue, Redshift, Relational Database Service (RDS), and DynamoDB.
  • DE executing metadata management and data modeling while creating complex SQL queries and building data warehouses, data lakes, and Extract, Transform, Load/ Extract, Load, Transform (ETL/ELT) pipelines, using Lambda, Elastic MapReduce, and AWS Glue, and using AWS Step Functions or Amazon Managed Airflow.
  • DE architecting and implementing modern data integration frameworks for streaming and batch processing by designing highly scalable distributed systems and modeling relational and NoSQL data structures, using Apache Spark, AWS Elastic MapReduce, and DynamoDB, and using Airflow or Step Function, and using Scala, Python, or Java.
  • DE evaluating, integrating, and prototyping AWS services for petabyte-scale data processing using Apache Spark, and Elastic Map Reduce, and using AWS Redshift or Snowflake; and designing high-availability architectures with disaster recovery and real-time capabilities using AWS Lambda, and using DynamoDB Streams, Kinesis Firehose, or Kafka Streams.
