Position: Full Time Switchboard Operator  

Department: Information Services  

Shift: Varies, 8 hr shift  

PURPOSE

The primary purpose of your position as Switchboard Operator is to perform assigned duties in an efficient manner, in accordance with established procedures, and as directed by your supervisor to assure that a successful, viable department is maintained at all times.  The Switchbaord Operator handles all communications of the Hospital to include: System 75(AT&T switch), paging system, monitor all alarms, physician paging service, and resolve all incoming phone calls and in-house calls. Performs key role when a code or severe weather or any life threatening situation occurs.  Assumes clerical functions for the Patient Accounting Department and assists patients and customers with billing questions and payment processes for customer service. Performs these duties according to set procedures and in a courteous and professional manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school graduate with emphasis on clerical studies.
  • Some exposure to clerical responsibilities.  Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle large variety of circumstances and conditions. 
  • Ability to work well with co-workers.
  • Computer skills.
  • Communication and customer service experience helpful.
