What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Swag Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Swag Manager, you need strong organizational skills, experience in procurement or event planning, and often a background in marketing or communications. Familiarity with inventory management systems, vendor negotiation platforms, and design tools like Adobe Creative Suite is typically beneficial. Creativity, attention to detail, and effective interpersonal communication set top performers apart in this role. These skills ensure seamless swag production, effective brand representation, and positive stakeholder experiences.

What are swag jobs?

Swag jobs typically refer to positions or tasks related to the creation, management, or distribution of promotional merchandise, often called 'swag.' This can include roles in marketing, event planning, or logistics where the main responsibility is to source, design, and provide branded items like t-shirts, mugs, or bags for companies, events, or conferences. People in swag jobs may work with vendors, manage inventory, and help ensure that promotional products effectively represent a brand and engage recipients.

What is a Swag job?

A Swag job typically involves managing branded merchandise, promotional products, and giveaways for a company or organization. Responsibilities may include selecting, designing, ordering, and distributing swag items for events, employees, or marketing campaigns. This role often falls within marketing, HR, or event planning teams to enhance brand recognition and employee engagement.

Understanding these differences helps in choosing the right career path or job search focus.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals responsible for managing company swag programs?

Professionals managing company swag programs often face challenges such as coordinating with multiple vendors to ensure product quality and timely delivery, managing inventory to prevent overstock or shortages, and aligning swag choices with company branding and values. Additionally, they must navigate budget constraints and ensure that swag distribution is meaningful and engaging for recipients, whether employees or clients. Effective communication and organization skills are essential to handle these complexities and to collaborate with marketing, HR, and events teams.

Job description

About Our Company:
InBody is a worldwide leader in the health metrics field, revolutionizing the industry with innovative technology and devices. InBody's products are trusted by top research facilities, fitness centers, hospitals, and health centers around the world because of their accuracy, reproducibility, and ease-of-use.
We proudly produce advanced health technology designed to make understanding and improving health and wellness accessible to everyone. From class-leading body composition analyzers to user-friendly automated blood pressure monitors, our goal is to equip health and wellness professionals with the tools they need to help clients and communities improve their well-being.
About the Role:
We are looking for a Senior Creative Designer to maintain the company's creative assets and brand consistency for all design projects. You will be responsible for owning and maintaining creative quality across but not limited to our promotional, advertising, and brand work - spanning digital, print, environmental, and dimensional design. Your work will range from campaign assets and digital content to trade-show booth graphics, event signage, branded merchandise and swag, swag packaging, and marketing collateral. The ideal candidate has a hunger for the latest industry design trends. We're looking for an optimistic self-starter with a positive and goal-oriented attitude who can take a marketing objective, develop the concept, and deliver final production-ready work with minimal direction. It is crucial that the candidate thrives in our entrepreneurial company culture where change is constant, growth is immense, and opportunities abound.
The ideal candidate is fluent in design fundamentals and design language, and brings a genuine point of view on designing for the health and wellness category - understanding how design speaks differently to clinical, performance, and wellness lifestyle audiences, and how to balance the creative based on the chosen audience. You are comfortable owning multiple concurrent projects and making confident creative decisions.
This is a full-time, hybrid position at our office located in Cerritos, CA reporting to the Marketing Ops Manager.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Concept, design, and deliver promotional content across digital, print, environmental, and dimensional formats including but not limited to campaigns, digital content, sales collateral, trade-show booth graphics, event signage, branded merchandise and swag, and swag packaging.
  • Design artwork and graphics for trade-show booths and environmental installations to vendor-provided specs, with full understanding of scale, sightlines, resolution, and large-format production requirements.
  • Produce design mockups and in-situ comps that show how an asset will look in its final context whether it's web placement, print application, booth or event environment, apparel, or physical merchandise.
  • Deliver final work that is visually polished, error-free, and on-brand: correct logo usage and clear space, clean alignment, consistent type system, accurate color, and production-ready file specs.
  • Prep and release final files for production across both flat and large-format/dimensional output, including bleed, trim, safe area, color profile, resolution, embedded fonts, and packaged links.
  • Source and manage vendors across print, large-format, signage, fabrication, promotional products, and apparel, reviewing proofs and physical samples for quality and accuracy.
  • Provide creative guidance during project consultation and planning, and stay current on design and category trends to inform the work.
  • Develop drafts and final deliverables, while collaborating with adjacent internal departments, third-party vendors to produce assets for marketing, trade shows, and e-commerce.
  • Design and organize professional presentation decks for recaps, proposals, and executive reviews.

Essential Qualifications:
  • BFA or BA in Graphic Design or related field.
  • At least 5 years of professional design experience with a strong online portfolio that includes mockups, in-situ comps, and final production work - not only flat exports.
  • Experience designing across both flat (digital/print) and dimensional/large-format formats - booth graphics, signage, apparel, or merchandise.
  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite - Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Strong command of layout fundamentals: grid systems, alignment, type hierarchy, kerning, leading, tracking, white space, and visual rhythm.
  • Ability to build true mockups and in-situ comps - packaging, environmental, device, apparel, and screen rather than flat artboard exports.
  • Strong understanding of design with marketing intent - work that is functional, on-strategy, and aesthetically engaging.
  • High attention to detail; self-audits work for alignment, spacing, type, and brand consistency before submitting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across designers, stakeholders, and vendors.
  • Strong organization and time management; able to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive, goal-oriented, and collaborative team player.
  • Ability to commute to our Cerritos, CA office a minimum of 2 days per week.
  • Ability to travel up to 5% for business trips and trade shows.

Bonus Qualifications:
  • Experience designing for health, wellness, medical device, biotech, or fitness brands
  • 2D illustration
  • Experience with CAD
  • Experience with UI/UX and web design
  • Experience with animation software
