Job description

The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area.  Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Job Summary

The Summer Camp Aide supports the Summer Camp Director and Assistant Director in creating a safe, faith-filled, and engaging summer experience for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Aides help lead daily activities, supervise campers, and contribute to a positive, energetic environment that reflects the mission of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist the Director and Assistant Director with daily camp programming and activity execution.
  • Lead or support small groups of campers during games, crafts, enrichment activities, and free play.
  • Actively engage with campers by participating in activities, encouraging inclusion, and modeling positive behavior.
  • Help prepare, set up, and clean up activities and common areas throughout the day.
  • Supervise campers to ensure safety and well-being, following all established safety and behavior guidelines.
  • Support consistent behavior expectations and communicate concerns to camp leadership.
  • Assist with transitions between activities, meals, outdoor play, and field trips.
  • Help maintain attendance records and assist with camper check-in and check-out procedures.
  • Respond appropriately to minor incidents and report injuries, conflicts, or emergencies to leadership.
  • Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating kindness, responsibility, teamwork, and enthusiasm.
  • Promote a respectful, welcoming environment aligned with the mission and values of St. Joseph Manchester and the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
Job Requirements
  • Experience working with children preferred, including camp, babysitting, volunteering, childcare, education, or youth ministry.
  • Ability to collaborate with staff, follow direction, and maintain professionalism.
  • Positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, and enthusiasm for working with children.
  • Ability to remain patient, flexible, and calm in a busy, high-energy setting.
  • Minimum age requirement: 16 years old.
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
  • Completion of and ongoing compliance with the Archdiocese of St. Louis Safe Environment Program, including Protecting God’s Children training and required background screening (age-dependent).
