Student Worker - (Library References)
Job no: 50000314
Work type: Part time
Location: Virginia Beach
Categories: Student & Temporary
This role will be filled by either two 10 hour positions or one 20 hour position. Looking for part-time Master's or Doctorate level research or instruction assistant for the University Library by summer or fall 2026.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide friendly, professional informational and research assistance in multiple formats: in-person, telephone, email, live chat, etc.
  • Add reference transactions to the analytics database
  • Assist with the preparation of reports as needed
  • other duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, effective manner
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and work with a team, demonstrating awareness of each of the library's departmental responsibilities
  • Self-motivated to complete a work schedule and tasks with limited supervision
  • Must be able to work effectively and responsibly with library patrons in a public service environment and to serve a variety of people
