Job description

Job Title:  Student Worker - Library Task Assistant

Job Classification: Administrative and Office Services, Student

Department: Libraries Research and Engagement

Hiring Manager: Meredith Lanningham

Work Schedule: Minimum 10hrs per week. Availability for early mornings (8am-10am) or late nights (10pm-12am) preferred.

Desired Length of Employment: Ongoing, with Summer or Fall star

Pay Rate: $10/hr

Job Description: This position works with the Public Services Team in Moody and Jones Libraries to perform circulation-related tasks. Undergraduate students in this role are responsible for re-shelving used materials, organizing books according to the LC Call Number system, verifying items are in the correct order, and assisting with other tasks as assigned.  

Required skills include: willingness to work as a part of a team, ability to prioritize and take initiative, strong attention to detail, flexible work availability, and consistent attendance and punctuality. Student workers should be able to remain active for the duration of a shift (around 2 hours). Experience with using the library and/or the LC Call Number system is a plus.

    Perform business operations duties for assigned area of responsibility  
    Collect, check in, sort, and reshelve books
    Check levels and conditions of supplies maintained by Public Services Desk (check printers, fill staplers, etc.)
    Assist with taking inventory of the collection
    Comply with University policies   
    Maintain regular and punctual attendance  
    Work at least 10 hours per week
    Assist with additional tasks as assigned
