Reports to: Campus Principal
Position Overview
Greenville ISD is seeking a dependable and student-centered Library Media Aide to support campus library operations and assist students and staff with library and media resources. This position helps maintain a welcoming, organized, and technology-rich learning environment that promotes literacy, research, and student engagement.
Primary Purpose
Assist in the daily operations of the campus library/media center by supporting circulation, technology use, instructional activities, and organization of library materials while promoting a positive learning environment for students and staff.
Qualifications
Education / Certification:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree or college hours preferred
  • Completion of the ParaSkills Course through STEDI.org required (District paid)
Special Knowledge / Skills:
  • Knowledge of basic library procedures and technology systems
  • Ability to assist students and staff with library and media resources
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and organize materials
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students and staff
Experience:
  • Experience working with children or adolescents preferred
  • Experience in a school or library setting preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Library Operations & Circulation
  • Assist with daily library circulation activities including check-in, check-out, shelving, and inventory of materials
  • Organize and maintain library books, instructional materials, and media resources
  • Assist students and staff in locating and using library resources
Student & Instructional Support
  • Support students during library visits and instructional activities
  • Reinforce appropriate library behavior and expectations
  • Assist with literacy initiatives, reading programs, and campus activities as assigned
  • Support student use of computers, research tools, and educational technology
Technology & Media Support
  • Assist with operation and basic troubleshooting of library technology and media equipment
  • Support use of digital resources, databases, and instructional tools
  • Help maintain organization and functionality of media equipment and resources
Collaboration & Communication
  • Work collaboratively with the librarian, teachers, administrators, and campus staff
  • Communicate professionally with students, staff, and parents as appropriate
  • Support campus and district instructional initiatives
Professional Responsibilities
  • Participate in required district and campus training
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student and district information
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the librarian or campus administration
