Special Knowledge/Skills Required:

  • Required: Proficient in computer operations, software productivity tools, technology Applications TEKS, job-related multimedia tools, job-related student and financial systems applications, solving simple technology, electronic file management, e-mail, integrating technology in curriculum, instruction, and assessment, web-based applications, server file and printer resources, and CCISD Acceptable Use Policy and Technology Ethics/Etiquette.

Experience Required:
  • Library procedures, successful work history with students, collaborative planning, and familiarity with educational software.

Personal Qualifications:
  • Communicates effectively in oral and written form.
  • Displays knowledge of information resources available through Internet sources.

Function
The Library Media Assistant works in the library and/or media center as assigned, under the supervision of the Library Media Specialist/School Librarian (LMS/SL), who is a certified librarian, or Library Media Teacher (LMT). The Library Media Assistant assists the library professional in planning and implementing the library media center program to ensure that students and staff have access to ideas, materials, and information.

Campus Principal, Library Media Specialist/School Librarian Media Teacher
Responsibilities:
  • Cooperates with the principal, library professional, staff, and students to maintain a library media program that is an integral part of the school curriculum.
  • Instructs students and staff in the effective and proper use of computers, software, and library equipment.
  • Assist in circulating books, media, and equipment to faculty and students.
  • Helps to maintain an attractive, inviting, and stimulating atmosphere for information users.
  • Provides guidance to students in the use of library print and electronic resources to support academic standards.
  • Cooperatively works with the LMS/SL or the LMT to meet student needs.
  • Encourages students to be active and independent learners.
  • Assists the LMS/SL or the groups as assigned.
  • Follows District procedures to maintain and repair computers and equipment.
  • Maintains the Accelerated Reader collection and performs minor mending and repairing of materials.
  • Assists in the shelving, storage, and inventory of books, media, and equipment.
  • Orders materials from KEDT-TV and the Education Service Center, Region 2 at teacher request.
  • Files materials, requisitions, packing lists, and catalogs as designated by the LMS/SL.
  • Helps maintain the integrity and appearance of the library environment.
  • Assists in preparing reports and inventories.
  • Attends workshops and training sessions provided by the District.
  • Supports District and campus invitations and programs.
  • Helps supervise the training, scheduling, and activities of parent volunteers and student assistants.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.
