Job description

Job Summary

The Senior Technical Sales Manager will develop new customer prospects and interact with existing customers to increase sales of the organization's products and/or services. The Senior Technical Sales Manager is responsible for developing sales opportunities, prospecting, account management, closing new accounts, retaining current customers, analyzing competitors, and keeping abreast of new technologies focusing on the light, medium, and heavy-duty commercial vehicle market. To excel, the Senior Technical Sales managers should have strong technical knowledge of lithium-ion batteries and the Company’s products and will be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures, and will rely on experience and judgment to plan and achieve sales and profit goals.

Responsibilities

  • Actively prospecting and evaluating new customers.
  • Developing long-term trust relationships with clients through managing and interpreting their requirements.
  • Function as the lead point of contact for all commercial matters specific to your accounts, including negotiating contracts.
  • Introduce and hand off to sales leadership new sales opportunities outside of the assigned sales segment or area of expertise.
  • Prepare and deliver technical customer presentations, bid responses, proposals, and formal quotes to customers, including developing cost and pricing models, Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE), and timing estimates.
  • Work with Engineering, Finance, Project Management, and Manufacturing to develop technical proposals based on customer requirements.
  • Adhere to the sales process and clearly communicate the status of sales initiatives and provide account updates, sales progress, reports, and forecasts for assigned accounts and new opportunities.
  • Work with sales leadership to generate ideas for sales programs, meet sales strategies, and lead the generation process.
  • Supporting marketing activities by attending trade shows, conferences, and other marketing events.
  • Participate in scheduled daily, weekly, and/or monthly team meetings with the sales team and leadership.
  • Prepare as directed monthly, weekly, or daily sales analysis as instructed by Sales leadership.
  • Maintain records of client transactions and regularly update the Customer Relationship Manager (CRM) software and other sales applications for assigned accounts.
  • Responsible for working with other sales team members to provide assistance and support to accounts outside your assigned territory in times when the primary account manager is unavailable.
  • Embody company culture and maintain high sales employee engagement.
  • Adhere to all federal and state regulations.
  • Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
  • Predictable and reliable attendance.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of six (6) or more years of sales or battery industry experience.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic fast-paced, high-pressure, collaborative start-up environment where initiative and ownership are a must.
  • Must be a highly motivated and proactive self-starter focused on making and exceeding sales goals.
  • Ability to build rapport with customers and provide them with technical information and explanations as needed.
  • Have a strong working knowledge of lithium-ion batteries.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite & Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Proven experience with CRM software (i.e., Salesforce).
  • Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Ability to build good relationships with clients and coworkers.
