We're Looking for an experienced Delivery Manager!
About the Company:
Security Benefit is a leader in the U.S. retirement market with more than $60 billion in assets under management. We offer opportunities to thrive, innovate, and make an impact. As part of our team, you'll play a key role in driving the future of the U.S. retirement industry. Security Benefit is a PLACE where we promise to help our customers To and Through Retirement®.
We're proud to have been recognized as one of the best in the business:
  • Named to Ward's 50 list of top-performing life-health insurance companies
  • Recognized on list of Ingram's Top 100 Private Companies in the Kansas City area in 2024

About the Role:
As a Delivery Manager you will guide a customer-centric product or platform team toward high-quality, predictable delivery. You will facilitate structured, iteration-based delivery cycles, coach the team on effective delivery practices, and remove the obstacles that get in the way of progress. As part of the Delivery Management Team within Digital Technology Solutions, you will be embedded with your team while being developed and supported through the broader Delivery Manager community of practice.
This position reports to the Director of Agile Practices and can be based out of our home office in Topeka, Kansas, our Overland Park, Kansas office, or remotely for the right candidate. We work a hybrid schedule, offering flexibility to work both remotely and on-site.
  • Facilitate iteration ceremonies - Iteration Planning, Backlog Refinement, Iteration Reviews, and Retrospectives - and facilitate Quarterly Planning Events (QPE) to help teams set objectives and commit to realistic, capacity-based plans
  • Monitor delivery progress and flow, identifying bottlenecks early and keeping commitments visible; ensure the backlog is ready for planning and that estimation runs effectively
  • Proactively identify and remove obstacles, escalating and partnering with the Product Manager, Tech Lead, and others as needed; shield the team from unplanned work and mid-iteration scope changes
  • Drive team morale, collaboration, and engagement; foster a culture of transparency and accountability; coordinate shared services participation with sufficient advance notice
  • Coach the team on collaboration, self-management, and effective delivery practices; drive continuous improvement through retrospectives, feedback sessions, and metrics analysis
  • Use AI tools to improve personal effectiveness - meeting summaries, retrospective synthesis, and status reporting - and help the team identify opportunities to reduce manual or repetitive work
  • Represent the team at Cross-Team Sync, surfacing dependencies, risks, and impediments; communicate delivery progress, challenges, and risks to organizational leaders
  • Collaborate with the Product Manager and BA to support Epic refinement, maintain team capacity visibility, and support product backlog alignment and release planning
  • Understand Security Benefit's key vendor and platform relationships and how they affect team-level delivery; escalate vendor or platform dependencies to more experienced Delivery Managers when they arise
  • Advocate for delivery standards, tools, and best practices within the team and organization; actively engage in communities of practice and the broader Delivery Manager practice

What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Knowledge of iterative delivery practices, frameworks, and techniques, with hands-on experience facilitating iteration-based delivery
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, applied to identifying and removing delivery obstacles
  • Strong coaching and negotiation skills
  • Ability to read team dynamics and foster a healthy, engaged team culture
  • Ability to design and facilitate meetings and events for determined purpose and outcomes
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Comfort and proficiency using AI tools to support delivery work and improve team effectiveness
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, or other delivery work management tools
  • Agile delivery certification preferred (e.g., CSM, PSM, PMI-ACP, or equivalent)

Why Choose Security Benefit?
When you join our team, you're not just getting a paycheck - you're getting a career path full of growth opportunities, plus a robust benefits package that puts your well-being first. Here's what you can expect as a full-time Security Benefit associate:
  • Competitive salary and annual incentive bonuses to reward your contributions.
  • 33 days of paid time off (including PTO, holidays, Volunteer Day, and days of significance).
  • Paid parental leave after 90 days of service.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental & vision insurance.
  • 401(k) with company match, plus Profit Sharing & Savings Plan.
