Position Summary
The Solar O&M Business Management Intern will support the Operations & Maintenance team in the coordination, reporting, and continuous improvement of distributed generation solar operations. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience and exposure to business management practices within the renewable energy industry, including operational planning, performance tracking, issue resolution, vendor coordination, budgeting support, and process improvement initiatives. The intern will work closely with the Director of Operations and cross-functional teams to gain practical experience in day-to-day business operations, organizational and field management, and strategic decision-making within a fast-paced renewable energy environment.
This is a hybrid role consisting of approximately 50% field-based and 50% administrative responsibilities. Field responsibilities will provide hands-on exposure to solar operations, maintenance coordination, and real-world project management activities. Administrative responsibilities may be performed remotely or in-office and will focus on leadership-oriented business functions including scheduling, KPI tracking, reporting, analytics, and operational coordination.
Primary Responsibilities
Operational Support
  • Assist with tracking and organizing solar site operational activities and maintenance schedules.
  • Support work order management, documentation control, and service record tracking.
  • Help coordinate logistics related to field activities, subcontractors, and site support needs.

Business & Performance Analytics
  • Assist with compiling and analyzing operational performance data and KPI metrics.
  • Assist with generating reports related to equipment uptime, production trends, maintenance response times, and operational efficiency.
  • Support data validation and business reporting initiatives.

Project Coordination
  • Participate in operational planning meetings, project status reviews, and scheduling discussions.
  • Assist with tracking action items, schedules, deliverables, and operational priorities.
  • Support cross-functional communication between field operations and the Remote Operations Center.

Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities for workflow improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Assist in developing or updating standard operating procedures (SOPs), tracking tools, and reporting templates.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to business operations, maintenance, and asset management.

Financial & Administrative Exposure
  • Support work order and invoice tracking, budget monitoring, and cost reporting activities.
  • Assist with vendor documentation, procurement coordination, and contract-related administrative tasks.
  • Gain exposure to operational budgeting and resource planning processes.
