Job description

Position Summary

This position serves as a bridge engineer between the software development team in Japan and the manufacturing plants in North America, and is responsible for software operations, issue handling, and release management for mass-production products. This is not a programming-focused role; instead, it requires strong coordination, management, and communication skills.

Primary Responsibilities1. Bridge Engineer Responsibilities (Between Japan Development Team and North American Plants)
  • Collect and consolidate production issues and mass-production challenges occurring at the plants
  • Request analysis support from the software engineering team in Japan
  • Understand and organize analysis results and countermeasure plans
  • Provide feedback to the plants
  • Support implementation of corrective actions at the plants
2. Software Release and Management Responsibilities
  • Register software released by the Japan development team into the BOM management system
  • Coordinate release arrangements and change instructions for the plants
3. Problem Solving and Coordination Responsibilities
  • Resolve issues in collaboration with plants and design teams
  • Act as a communication hub among related stakeholders
  • Manage project progress and escalate issues when necessary
Required Qualifications
  • Bilingual in English and Japanese
    • English: Business level or above (capable of meetings and coordination tasks)
    • Japanese: Equivalent to JLPT N2 level or above (capable of technical communication with design teams)
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Basic understanding of IT/software development processes
  • Comfortable working in multicultural teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry (especially mass-production products)
  • Experience in software development or quality assurance
  • Experience using BOM management systems
